I've always used the analog L/R ports on the TEX. I've recently purchased some equipment that will allow me to accept an optical input.

Do I have to do anything to enable the TEX to use the Optical Output. Is it always on, or do I have to turn it on? Oh...and the optical digital signal is in stereo...right?

Thanks,
Comptech222

No answer to your question, just an additional one. Since the Tritons are running at 48 kHz I assume that the digital outs also are running at this sample rate. Many (most?) people are running their sound card at 44.1 kHz. How does this work, do you have to change the sample rate of the sound-card with digital input or can the Tritons change their sample rate to synchronize to the sound-card?

No, it works constantly.

Yes.

Beware digital out isn't affected by Extreme's volume slider, you adjust volume at PC.

Also, routing to individual outputs 1-4 doesn't work with digital out, any timbre or track routed to individual outputs wont be heard with digital out connection.

No, sound card software allows you matching to Extreme's sample rate.

Hmmm, so I have to run my soundcard and the DAW software at 48 kHz just to be able connect my Triton digitally and then convert everything back to 44,1kHz, sounds crazy. None of my soundcards have realtime sample rate conversion.

Thanks shrike...that's what I needed to know. I have one more question for you. The effects of the tube (a true analog device)...are they processed and converted, and sent out the digital output...or is the tube bypassed when using the optical output?

depulse,
I'm thinking that your DAW should do it automatically. If your DAW is 44.1kHz...then it won't sample at anything higher than that. So your DAW will truncate or dither the 48kHz down to 44.1kHz. Just connect it and post your results back. Smile

Thanks,

You can’t use Valve Force on the S/P DIF output, which
is processed in digital form, nor when resampling with
L/R selected as the Source BUS.

Tube is bypassed when placed on FINAL; as insert, it works in normal way.

Preface:
I have a TEX61 and a TEX88. I also have an E-Mu 0404 USB audio interface.

Connections: (all optical S/PDIF)
TEX61 --> TEX88 --> 0404USB --> Laptop (Program: Sonar LE)

Questions:
I can't get the optical connections to work at all. How should I set these keyboards up to get some sound out of them via the optical ports? Are there setting that I should know about? I'm having a really hard time with this, and if someone could help me...that would be very much appreciated.

Thanks,
Musicman222

I have a similar setup:

TEX61 > E-MU1212M > Computer

My TEX61 is connected via MIDI and SPDIF to SONAR 7. My Sound Card clock sync must be set to external. I use my TEX61 as tone generator.

I think in your case:

Both TEX61 and TEX88 must be MIDIed first of all. You can only connect only 1 digital input in the sound card. So the other TEX should be in the analog input.
