Yes that's correct, but they are sequencers at heart.
Consider the QY700 as a 48 track sequencer. 32 of those tracks operate just as any midi sequencer would, but the remaining 16 tracks operate as a 16 part arranger keyboard.
So if you record on those 16, everything can be controlled in real-time just by playing chords. It can also run those 16 arranger tracks alongside the 32 Sequencer tracks at the same time.
Regards.

So mad at myself right about now...
Saw one recently going for under 400 bucks at a local music shop and didn't pick it up, if only I knew the specs on the Qy700, Im so pissed right now for not checking out the specs/manual online, my RS7000 only has a crappy 16 tracks compare to this 48 track beast...thank you Sharp for ruining my day. |

I know that Yamaha make parts for Korg, so, just wondering here is the screen on the QY700 the same as the touch sceen found on the Korg Triton?
***They practically look identical from where Im sitting. |

The Screen looks very like the ones KORG use, but it is different.

Hi Sharp
I am lucky, ashamed and excited....
Lucky to have bought a QY700 in good working order (for AUD 300 - about US$205 at today's exchange rate)
Ashamed that I have not used it yet (bought it a while ago soon after you announced success and ease of connection to your PA1XPro)
Excited - I have decided to spend some time to get into the QY now.
Way back you kindly offered...
Quote: | If you get one, I’ll even post a list of the changes you need to make on both units to make them talk perfectly together. |
Here, you were talking about PA1Xpro & QY700 - I am hoping it is as easy with the PA2Xpro.... anyhow, would be grateful for and basic settings info you think I might need. Initially I want multi-track record from PA2XPro style play mode....
(I will read the manuals....)
Thanks for any help

Yes I'm a little peed about one(QY700) that went on Ebay recently,I was going to bid but completely forgot about it,and it sold for £112..
I have the QY70,which goes everywhere with me,its great for quickly making up song arrangements. And because of its size its easily portable,I always use it in the studio as well to work out some Chord progressions in realtime when I'm composing
I'd like to get hold of its big brother one day
This is one thing that bugs me,these types of Hardware sequencers, especially things like the QY700 and Roland MV8800 are pretty much the mutts nuts for sequencing, why can't Korg implement something of this magnitude and operation into their workstations, what an awesome combination this would be coupled with the Oasys |

Is it much different then the song/pattern sequencer in the motif series? If I remember correctly, the motif's sequencer was based on one of those Yamaha hardware units but I forgot which one. _________________ https://www.youtube.com/user/sewa01/videos |
