Here is the beginning of the song. It is called Waiting for an an answer. I will be able to record again in about a week and a half. I will work on finishing this after I am in the new house.

Waiting for the end is like Waiting for an answer... Oh Wow, I suddenly feel like an artist.

Enjoy!

It's the fourth time I'm listening to it...
And I think I'll listen to it for many other times...!
I love your style, you and other musician over there have a lot to teach me with your music.

Can't wait to hear the finished version!

Regards

I love how off-set the beats are, nothing hits at the same time, cool. And that lead is exceptional. Wow that piano at the end is very strong. You better finish this or you're in big trouble here. Evil or Very Mad Angel

This is very cool. The hesitation in the parts at the beginning are fantastic. Nice sounds. Another one of yours I am wanting to hear finished! Confused

Hang in there man. This is good stuff!!!

Oh man - Jaz - UR killing me with these killer unfinished pieces!

The piano is killer! When you work on it, toss in a couple of bass fills Smile

I think you and I are racing 2 C how many unfinished tunes we can do!

Cheers,

Art, you will never catch up with me (with unfinished songs) I am afraid. I will need to spend a whole month just finishing half done pieces. I have made some progress, just not enough. I tried to finish ...The give and take song but I had an new idea for Senora en Blanca. I am too easily distracted by new ideas. It is madding!

Maybe we can start an Unfinished Songwriter’s Anonymous Club.

“Hi, my name is Tom. I haven had an unfinished song in three months”. Everyone in the room responds “Hi, Tom" !

Thanks for listening.

Not to steal an idea, but when OSAM is over, maybe we can make another sort of contract, either completing a cd and getting it copyrighted, or finishing earlier pieces, if we can keep the activity here and the momentum maybe we won't lose our audiences and listening ears to help us perfect the songs we're frantically belting out to make deadlines thru the year.

You know - I originally did the 6 months option figuring that would give me enough time in between. But I've been able to 1/2 bake an idea per month so haven't had time to go back and finish baking my unfinished masterpieces!

Even know - I am almost done my July tune, and now I have to start on Aug. tune 'cause it takes me freakin' all month. So I am thinking it isn't going to until the end of this OSAM that I actually go back and finish.

This bugs me .... Evil or Very Mad

Good idea George. It is probably time to discuss something that would keep a majority of us around for another round....sounds like a new thread.

I quote, quote and quote again...!!
I'm easily distracted by discovering new sounds on my equipment, and this means I play tons of new riffs inspired by those new sounds...and this means a loose a lot of time...OMG!!

You ain't whistling dixie (silly American phrase = no kidding!)

The Karma in the M3 provides nearly limitless possibilities - so many sounds - so little time!

To quote from my fav fashion show, designing is also editing, editing being to limit ourselves to manageable limits. Songwriting and experimenting is not exactly the same thing. It's really important to stay focused and remind yourself where you're at in the songwriting process. For me, the beginning is the part where you find out all these cool sounds you can produce, new licks that really grab you, drum tracks you've just got to sink into, insert effects that really warp that organ sound into some neo synth squeal. But then I begin to hear a verse and chorus and bridge part, or maybe a groove that begins softly and develops into more and more as these new sounds are brought in. Now, although I do find myself experimenting a bit here and there I try to stay focused on organizing my song ideas and at this point I play around more with phrasing and construction and I've already settled on which drums, synth pads and other instruments I need for the basic song. From there it's just more develpment and critical listening and lyric ideas bouncing against my instrumentals. when I do get a part that is too jarring or just doesn't seem to fit then I do get distracted by experimenting with new sounds and weird effects. But I do try mostly to beef up my song by simply playing with the ribbon controler, the effects knobs etc in order to keep the sounds moving and interesting. Keeping with the 'less is more' concept I'm finding it better to do the most with a few tracks rather than try to layers tons of sounds on top of each other, so if I've found a beefy synth lead I try to stick with my original decision unless it really is not working. I also have goals for certain days, like today I will write a complete rough draft of lyrics before I go to bed. Or I will get a rough recording on my mp3 player before I go to bed. And I do this for those days when I will have at least some time. Even if its an hour, I will turn on my m3 and tweak that one part that's bothering me and then fix dinner after that. But I try to stay focused and positive and not allow the bad distractions that prevent me from completely finishing my pieces so that at least when I post it I won't have to put disclaimers on it. Now this is a team effort and disclaimers are allowed and welcome, but I know that for me I have to give it everything I can and then ask for comments, so this way the suggestions are specific and usually quite practical to implement if it turns out that i have missed some problem. These are simply my own thoughts, but if you learn anything from this OSAM, let it be discipline and self control, along with your breakthroughs in your creative genius. You will dazzle us with your focus even more than with some new-fangled techniques.

The idea is spot on. I have actaually been browsing through my old tunes and there are quite a few that have potential but need substantive reworking. I would really like to sit down and reorganize the material I already have. To do it collectively, would be cool.

Jazz, this is the next excellent tune from you. The "5 am espresso" is still on my mp3 player Wink

Cool start Jazz Smile
Love the pads at the start, and that lead, very relaxing.
Then the ever so short (!) piano part starts, can't wait to hear how this develops.
Good idea with the continuing osam projects too.
