Hello all,

I bought my first synth recently, a korg r3. I've been playing piano, rhodes, and keyboards for about 15 years but only recently go into synthesizing. I've done a lot of work with Fruity Loops over the years so I’m fairly familiar with a lot of the basics for using a synthesizer. Now it’s just a matter of getting into the more advanced stuff and really getting the concepts down fully.

If anyone is interested in hearing some of the electronic work I’ve done I released a 26 track album of original video game scores with another musician. We’re called 2PLAYER. The album is free for download at

Anyways, I’ve already learned a lot from this forum since I signed up a few days ago – look forward to learning more.

Andy

Yes! I've already lost a lot of sleep learning about what the r3 can do. I can definitely use it for some of the video game soundtrack stuff I mentioned in my previous post.

Thanks for the welcome!

Hi Andy,

I'm listening to Track 5, "Training Mode." Sounds incredible! Is this all generated in Fruity Loops?

I'm not sure if you're into this kind of thing, but I would be interested to hear more about what went into making that track and sounds! I'm assuming some kind of bit reduction is a main ingredient. Very Happy

Best,
Jake

Hey Jake,

Thanks for listening to the tunes and yes it was all done in FL Studio 6!

Making the track was actually fairly simple. I'm not able to open FL right now and go into the specifics of it because I'm at a different computer but i'll try my best to remember what I did.

To get that VG sound I for this song I basically decimated everything to one degree or another. If you're into writing video game stuff decimator is an absolutely essential sound effect.

For the bass I used a sine and saw osc and for the leads I used a saw. I didn't use any filters I just let it go through. I can get more specific later on if you'd like when I get to my comp with FL. You're right, it's a lot of reduction ha Very Happy

If you have questions about other tunes or just want to comment, feel free! Made my day!

Thanks,
Andy
