Mine doesn't but some people claim it should. Korg just told me it doesn't work. Can we get a consensus on this?

I want to set my KP3 to EXT and slave it to (for example) an AKai MPC outputting midi clock. I want the KP3 to slave to this clock and then ouput it to (say) an electribe.

I do this all the time on my KP2 but my KP3 will not do it, it will only output its own clock when set to INT.

Is anyone able to use the KP3 in this way?

and if not, my question for Korg, is why not?

Richard

If your mpc has 4 midi outs (mine does) why not use 1 to send the midi clock to the kp3 and another to send the midi clock to the electribe ?

i reckon its a feature that should definitely be there
especially if they're gonna leave off a midi thru

i dont think my micro-x can do that either

they need an option in the global menu to make the MIDI OUT
become a MIDI OUT + THRU

very annoying/restricting

my novation controller does that by default.

the funny thing is I spoke to Korg UKsupport on the phone 6 months ago and they said it should work and that my unit must be faulty. So I sent it to them for repair - they replaced the whole guts of it and then this week they tell me that midi thru is not implemented

the terms ass and elbow spring to mind

the kp3 isn't meant to be a center peice. the mpc's clock is far tighter,
and as anyone who own's a kp3 knows - they can be glitchy(when not intended to be). ya it sux that it doesn't have midi thru, but
in most cases you don't need it - leave that to more reliable machines!

errm, using the MPC as a master is exactly what I'm trying to do - that is why I want a midi thru - a thru wouldn't even use the KP3s clock

I use an MPC1000 for gigging and never have enough midi outputs, so units with thrus are crucial for me... my nord micro also doesn't have it

What unnerves me is that after using their gear for 28 years I seem to have had to explain to Korg UK a couple of times what a midi thru is..... Sad

until korg fix this I'll stay with my KP2, which in this respect, if only this respect, is superior.

There's a company called Midi Solutions that makes splitters and merge boxes for Midi signals. A splitter before the KP3 and a merge after would essentially accomplish the same thing as a Midi thru, but with the addition of any Midi data that the KP3 generates.
