Hi everyone!
I am very new in synths, actually I'm preparing to buy my first one. And I want it to be a MicroKorg. Maybe this question is stupid, but I'll ask anyway:
Is it possible to connect the Korg to the Line-In of a computer or mixer instead of using the MIDI? I mean, so that I can record from it like if I was recording from a mic or line-based instrument? I have an ART tube pre-amp, can I record the Korg through that?
The reason is that I want to wait a little with buying a MIDI interface.
Thanks!

You can do that, but understand midi is complete different than audio. The power of midi is that you can proces it in many ways, you can't do that with audio. The way you want to record is in real time, and you cant alter much after that. Find yourself a book or a webste about midi and think again..... |

Atomixx,
The powerful thing with midi is that not only can you edit and add effects once you have your midi notation created, you can easily edit your music to make it fit in more precisely. When recording in real time, most musicians regardless of experience will still play a note or two out of time. With midi you can move your notes around to make sure they are sounded at precisely the right moment.
With midi, you also save that precious ram which real-time audio recording uses up quite easily. It can slow down your machine, it may be responsible for causing insanity through frustration, and you might randomly start throwing objects across your studio. So try to avoid it. _________________ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
