hi there
first time that i post here, as i have kp2, padcontrol and kp3 i will post here more often.
one thing i wonder is i sampled 15 sounds to sd card. when i load them in the banks a, b, c , d its ok. but you also can save programs 0-9 for abcd combinations of samples. i tried this yesterday. but it saves only one combination. if i load prog 01 it has e.g. the same samples as when i load prog 02. i thought it was possible to save at least 10 programs.
the same funny thing occurs when i save different samples on different pads
when i call them up a01 a 02 and then b01 b02 there are the same samples in there although i loaded and saved different samples. that would mean i can save only 99 samples and not 4 x 99 samples the whole banks.
anybody knows anything about this behavior.
i have sandisk 1 GB in there.
cheers hk |

You can effectively only save 1 x 99 samples, as indecated in the doc. _________________ di - soundcloud.com/BerimbauJack |

yeah thanks for the reply
i did read that
but what about the programs? it should save 10 different programs
0-9 from the samples.
but it always saves the same program: 01 has the same samples as 02 and so on.... anybody knows something about this?
any mistakes that i did make? |

I think that you have to save as "all" and not as "prog" to accomplish what you want. Maybe the program option was poorly named.
According to the manual
Quote: | “ProG”: Contents of program memory |
And then early in the manual, they define program memory
Quote: |
The PROGRAM MEMORY buttons allow
you to save and instantly recall your eight
favorite KP3 programs and settings.
The following data will be stored:
• Effect program
• FX/DEPTH knob setting
• Pad motion
• The on/off status of the HOLD button
and its position (coordinates) |
So when you save and load a program, it isn't touching the samples at all. I have always used "all" so I never knew what the program save did until I just looked it up. |

1. you can only save 99 samples to a single card
2. the programs are your favorite fxs so you dont have to scroll live
these arent funny behaviors as much as what it does
the kp3 is not a sampling tool as much as an fx processor with a sampler thrown in
i dont ever save samples on mine because the load time is awful in a live situation
i just use it to record what is going on live to loop that so i can make overly complex changes that wouldnt be possible in any smooth way live
enjoy your stay on the forums |

Actually, it should be 100 samples. It starts at 0 and not 1 so you get 100.
Technically you can get 140 samples on an sd
00-99 of the "SMP.X" saves = 100 samples
Each "all' saves stores 4 samples in the save and there are 0-9 (ten) saves available so you can store another 40.
I may try an experiment soon because you may be able to store up to 240 (if the SD card is big enough) because description of loading makes a distinction between loading SMP.X Snd.X where the SMP is something saved by the KP3 and the Snd is a wave or aiff that you copy to the card. |

yeah 100 woops
haha
hmm save all huh? i havent used that. maybe when i get home today ill give it a go
doesnt the kp3 file system work with a dominence system
like if you have a 01.kps 01.wav and 01.aif all on the same card it will only recognize the kps file
and its kps>wav>aif
maybe im just drunk |

According to the manual, it only mentions the .wav having priority over the .aif which is what leads me to believe that you might be able to get away with 100 .kps files and 100 of one of the other formats, but I haven't tried it yet.
Also, you have to use the SMP load to load the .kps and the Snd load to load .wav or .aif. |

Yes, so a 2 GB card is waste of space..
Second wish on the 2.5 wish list.
Quote: | 2. Alternative filenames; It's annoying that the sample names are limited to two digits.
00-99.kps, 00-99.wav and 00-99.aif. That leave us with 300 samples right?
Wait, the manual states: "NOTE In the case of WAVE files or AIFF files, the
KP3 will recognize only file names consisting of a two-digit number plus filename extension, such as "00.wav" or "99.aif". If both .wav and .aiff files with the same two-digit number exist, the WAVE file will take priority."
So only 200 time limited samples that can't be named.
There's both the little display and the touch pad to show longer filenames like "electro.beat.120.bpm.wav". Same with .aif .kps .kpa .kpp and .kpg. |
