http://www.pbase.com/dl4plm/frankfurtmusicmesse2008

I spent today at the Messe in Frankfurt and had a great day!

Highlight of the day was grabbing a front seat in a 1 hr live set from Howard Jones .... I expected a couple of tracks and some talk about the Fantom..... however ... he played almost a whole hour of his earlier works and some latest tracks too!

The Fantom G8 was front stage of course !

Sounds lovely and in a live set was great .... inc some great retro sounds!

Having a play with the G7 out front ..... the screen is lovely and clear .... I mean crystal ..... display is large ...easy to navigate and a joy to see ... even under the show lights which were v strong and hot! hard to take pics too!

The Fantom is a heavy board .... the G6 I am told was 12kg

Keybed has a lovely feel ..... couldnt get near the G8 sorry!

hard to tell quickly how easy it would be in the studio ... menu seemed easy enough to navigate round.

ARX boards sounded good .... editing functions were ... well lets say it will keep you busy for a while!

Build quality seems solid and substantial ... I think the G8 will be a monster if your gigging ... it was huge and a weighty!

So fire away with any questions ..... Ill see if I can answer!

Btw interfacing was well covered ... the back panel is covered in connectors!

OK enjoy the pics!

Other items .......

Virus TI OS 2.7 .... app is just about ready and is due for release inside the next weeks.....

M3 .... will continue development and lots of new things are being planned ! stay tuned!

Radias ...... the lack of VST plugin is on top of the list.. and being pushed for hard!

Kaossoscillator .... an insane fun toy ... really! You have to play with one of these!!!

Korg DS-10 for the Nintendo DS ... also a fun item ... but I am sure will also appear in some genuine tracks!

Arturias Origin was up and running ... Mr KPR demonstrated its hugely fat sound set! This is def one to watch! Lovely interface too ... and the keyboard version is a dream! Looks very unusual too!

Plugiator was on show ... sounds a very interstsing box too .. loads of stuff coming for this one as well! Ohh yes .... Terratec's Area 61 keyboard controller looks interesting too .. has slots for additional sound cards .. .one will be a plugiator clone card ... the other I was informed will be a Waldorf

Rob Papen was showing some interesting softsynths inc a rather fat sounding analog "predator" ... demo sounded v nice!

Solaris had 2 demo versions of their latest ... that seemed to do little!

Same for the Linndrum II .... still minus its software and will be for sometime to come it seems .

The Virus TI Snow was lovely .... will be a nice desktop unit .... Atomiser was nuts but not really my thing ....

hopefully Virus OS 2.7 will be out soon which was nice news!

so my quick days visit was over ... I can see how you can spend alot of time there!!!!

next year!

Smile

sure no probs!

it was great spending some time with Rich Formidoni .... what a nice guy he is!

anyhow ... Korg ... you need keep this man .. hes a great asset ..... made me want to order an M3 there and then!!!

The Korg stand was light, open and encourage you to interact! It was good!

M3 is an amazing box!

that little Korg nintendo ... well I could spend hours playing with that ... but that Kaososcillator is insane!!! v v addictive!!! be warned ... but it is also no toy - you really could hook that into a live or studio set and use it seriously!!!!

one final thing ..... the keyboard guys know we want a VST plug in for radias!!! .... no streaming audio thats fine ... but a VST control panel !

and I was promised you have not seen half of what M3 can do ... yet!

I guess that means more delights!!!!

Smile

Thanks for the kind words! It was great chatting with you too. I hope you enjoyed the rest of the show... I missed that Nemo! Looks very cool. I must have spent hours at that Synthesizer magazine booth. Definitely drool-worthy.

thanks, so that's the "icon". What attracted me is ribbon + joystick combination and an interesting layout. I've always been lookin for touchpads in MIDI controllers (so I bought padKONTROL). And here are integrated other features aswell with keys. I wonder about action & pads quality. Also, I would willingly see 76 C-to-C version (just like M3-76).

Cool controller! Looks like their answer to M-Audio's Axiom series.
Thanks for the info.

Nice controller.

Nice expansion board also.
I've ordered the Use Audio Plugiator wich has the same plugins.
