Anyone got a working M1 out there? I occasionally use a M1R (rack mounted M1) for a couple of sounds. I went to power it up recently and found that the internal battery had died leading to the loss of all the internal factory sounds that shipped with it originally. I have a 26 RAM card as back-up but , guess what ... the battery of that had also failed - leaving me with a really clean machine....!!! I have some of the MSC cards and they're all working, proving that the hardware is all good. So, I'm wondering if one of you friendly people of the Korg fraternity could let me post you my 256 RAM card, you might do a data dump onto it and send it back to me, ( or I could call to you if you live in Ireland), whatever.
A box of your favourite chocolates or a bottle of your favourite hooce in thanks for your kindness..... Any takers?

I would help you out, but I'm a little ways away. I am in Canada Eh!! Right now it is -42 Celcius. Great day for jamming or helping out an Irishman. If you send me your card I will do a data dump to it for you. Let me know. For payment you an buy me a pint if I ever make it to Ireland.

Hi ... maybe one of you could help me out with a like question(s)?

I recently bought an EX M1 R needing the battery replaced. I've done that and am ready to roll ... but all I find on the net is the M1 sound set ... not the M1 EX.

First, why wouldn't a sysex dump and e-mailed file have done the same trick?
Is this simply because you don't have midi set up with a computer to use a midi editor? Or, is there something else about these data cards I need to know?

I'm not clear if all M1 Rs are EX or not ... but I thought I read they were. I think if I understood the thread you both are talking about the EX sound set, yes?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There is a difference between the M1R and ex-M1R Modules. The ex-M1R
has a larger storage capacity.

^ Do you have any idea where I could either find the EX M1R factory sound set? (Or at least a description of it?)

Thank you.

This will take you to a site where I found help.
http://www.kinneticfx.com/korgmt/m1rex.htm In the left column under
Sounds, click on Factory. External sound cards are available also.
Let me know how things work out.

Thanks for the help and link. I'd actually found this page before ... but even though it describes the MIR EX ... when you go to the sounds it only has the MI set ... as found here on the forum.

I'm going to drop the site an e-mail and see if they can clarify things for me.

If anything useful comes of it, I'll let you know.

Best regards,

prado

If you're using a Mac you can download the free Sysex Librarian utility from here:

http://www.snoize.com/SysExLibrarian/

This very useful little app can convert a .mid file to a .syx file.

Kind regards.

Hi Kgnter,

I tried to send you the Sysex file for the exM1R but it couldn't
be delivered using the email address you gave.

If you know someone using Cakewalk Software,
you can use it to load your midi files to your module.

By far the best place to go for your sounds is Korg it's self.
Korg support where you can download for free the preload data for the M1 including the original demo songs!
The file comes in Midi format which if you have a midi interface will allow you to send the data to the M1 using a multitude of programs, even windows media player!
Make sure the Keyboard is set to accept system exclusive and local control is off.
Switch it off when your done and when you put it back on it should be full of korg lovelyness.

Since I'm not a UK or Irish, I'm not permitted to contakt Korg UK, but ... the link only shows the factory set for the M1 and M1R, not the EX M1R, which is what I've been looking for.

I'm not really much of a midi expert and can barely get my way around MidiOx, but I have downloaded the factory M1 set available on this website. I've been told that there is a company you can buy the ROM from and I see in the posts here, that one member tried to e-mail another the files ... but while my EX M1R works with the M1R set, I'd still like to get the additional patches that came with the expanded unit.

Dave, I'll try the program thanks.

Linggick, I'll send you another email privately to see if that works.

Awesome response guys on a forum thread that was getting old. I'll definitely stay tuned here to see if I can lend assistance sometime.
