Why some karaoke files have right text on pc and vanbasco, but wen I load it on my i30, there is no text?

There is something I can do to convert it, so the text will be view on my i30 ?

John

I'm only getting through these forums slowly, so you might already have found out by now Wink
Anyway for what it's worth....

This is going back a few years, but I used a tool called text2kar which worked for me for most of the files I had trouble with, if I remember correctly.
It was part of a set of midi/karaoke tools written by Günter Nagler who has done a lot of work in this area; seems there are several midi/karaoke standards!

It's a command-line tool, and the description of it says:-
text2kar converts a midi file with lyrics to karaoke type 1 format
usage: text2kar file.mid file.kar

I also remember having to rename the .kar file back to a .mid file so it would play on both the i30 and the Karma (I might have got this the wrong way round, but one of the machines doesn't recognise filenames with a .kar extension).

There's another tool called mididir which allows you to (re)set the correct title of the song if it doesn't display properly on the i30 screen.

Let me know if you're unable to find the tools on this forum or anywhere else, and I'll see if I can email them to you.
Phil
