Hello all,

i am trying to update ths O.S. and patches of my waldorf Q.
According to waldorf procedure (standard procedure for pre-USB synth i guess), updating is done using a MIDI file containing only sysex message.

now i do the following (not having possibiity to connect via MIDI the waldorf to my pc ...)

connect MIDI OUT of my M3 to MIDI IN of waldorf, both on channel 1 (and it works if i play on the keyboard)
[also the connection from waldorf MIDI OUT to M3 MIDI IN is needed?]

in GLOBAL P1 MIDI-MIDI page, in SEQ MOD part, I set "Track MIDI out=for Master" and "Param. MIDI Out = SysEX - Parm Change"

then load the MIDI file to update the waldorf OS on the sequencer [but if i go to Track Edit page and check event, no event is listed], then play the song but nothing happens.

so, question are:
-is possibile to load on sequencer a MIDI file to update OS of other synth (so MIDI file contains SysEx of the other Synth)
- if yes, anyone can help me to check out what is missing?

thanks in advance.

You can't just purchase a MIDI/USB interface?

If you can connect a PC to your M3, I would think you could:

-- Connect midi cable from M3 Midi THRU to Waldorf Q Midi IN

-- Send the midi data from PC to M3, and the M3's midi THRU replicates everything coming into the M3

In that case, the M3 would simply be a MIDI cable extenstion, and you could just as well plug the PC directly to the Waldorf Q.

I believe what Kimu is after, is a way of doing this without the need for anything else than the Waldorf, the M3, and a MIDI cable.

And it should be a matter of simply loading the MIDI file into the M3, setting all tracks to external and then play the "song". And the M3's sequencer is SysEx capable, so it is strange that it didn't work...

Think

hi guys,

after a saturday morning wasted trying to use the M3 to do MIDI playback to waldorf and after reading lots of pages of user manual and parameter guide, i got the solution:

go to city, buy a USB-MIDI interface, come back home, install the USB-MIDI interface, connect waldorf MIDI IN to MIDI-OUT of the USB-MIDI interface, play the MIDI file for updating OS using Windows Media Player (!!!!!!) and everything works fine.

i really do not unsderstand the reason why this does not work with M3 sequencer... Question
