|
|
When recording with the sequencer I quite often have the situation, that I wish for the same track to be louder in eg. the chorus and less loud elsewhere. I know how to record fader movements - but they are not precise and fast enough. If you have just 1/32 time to move from 127 to exactly 82 it's impossible to do that by hand. It takes me 1/8 to do it and I'll end up with a value between eg. 78 and 86. So recording fader movements is not a good solution. I've tried to edit this movements, but even though I find the corresponding Midi-events I couldn't find any values to be adjusted beside the bar measures (it just tells you, that this event changes the fader value - but not to wich value).
Workarounds I've developed so far: turn down the tempo of the song to the lowest value and record fadermovements (= still not very precise) OR copy the wole stuff to a different track using the same voice and adjust the volume there to the desired level - but that consumes too many tracks.
So - any suggestions of the Oasys-sequencing-pros here? |

You need to insert a control change command using the menus.
Inserting a CC#07 with a value of *** (whatever you want the track slider volume to be at) using the Insert Control Change menu will make the volume slider for that track jump instantly to the value you entered.
This information can be dropped in with precision.
For other CC#'s have a look at the manual. There's a CC# for almost everything.

Thank you Sharp!!
I suppose this has to be done in the same track as the sound itself is? Just asking because I use to record fader-automation in a separat track.
Can I insert such a CC into audio-tracks as well - or only into midi-tracks? |

Yes.

Yes, through automation.
You can find a copy of the complete midi CC# table on page 1049 to 1051 of the new manual.

For MIDI tracks only:
It can be done on any track that is set to the same MIDI channel as the track you want to control. For example, you could have two tracks set to the same MIDI channel, one containing notes and the other containing control data.

Thanx for all the tipps - I'll try them ... and most likely will be back with additional questions ...
PS: This forum is a great place! I really appreciate the quick replies and the general attitude to help (instead of telling "We've had that befor - look it up by yourself!") |

If you go to the track edit page, and you hit the top-left corner tab, you should see a command for automation - not at the O at the moment, but I've used it before and it works beautifully.

This I cannot find. Could you describe the location precisely?
(topleftcornertab?)
Thanks
