Hi to those in Korg -
I installed the official 1.3 update from CD. It successfully updated and told me to remove the CD and then reboot.
Upon rebooting, I get a blue screen that echo's my public key, which I have noted down, and tells me that I now need to re-authorize my OASYS before it can be used again. It says to go to korgusernet to receive instructions on that, but so far I cannot find them.
Any pointers will be welcome.
Thanks,
Kevin. |

My FRIGGAN mistake -
left a USB device plugged in!
Do all others with no memory like me - remove all usb external devices before installing.

However -
on reinstalling properly, I still get the blue screen asking me to reauthorize. Any advice on how to do this would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Kevin |

My OASYS is looking to be reauthorised too, and I don't see anything on KORG User telling me what to do.
Regards.

You two have encountered the special "Irish OASYS owner" subset of the Operating System!!!! |

Yeah, I was wondering why there was a Leprechaun dancing beside the Authorization Code notice. |

Because these folks have a "special" circumstance that doesn't apply, software-wise, to everyone else. Sorry, I can't go into greater detail, but I want to make it clear that it's not because they're getting special treatment, their fix just doesn't apply to anyone else.
That said, to anyone who is hesitating, here's some tips that should ensure a nearly-pain-free update:
-Back up all your critical data before attempting an update. Absolute worst-case, you know your data is intact.
-When you burn the CD image, be sure to use your CD burning software's built-in verification feature to ensure a perfect burn of the data.
-Prior to updating, remove all usb storage devices from the OASYS, they can interfere with the update process.
-Update using the CD in the CDROM drive while booting, instead of the global mode update function. They should both work, but technically the boot-able version has been used for a lot longer, so if you err on the side of caution, use this method instead.
-If you *do* run into trouble, do not attempt to format or install a prior version of the software onto your OASYS, this can get you into deeper trouble than you really need to be in. Calmly contact your Korg Distributor or come here for support, we'll get you running again. _________________ ________________________________

I suspect these guys were beta testers...either that or Sharp has one of those combo "OASYS/PlayStation3" units.
P.S. I had no trouble whatsoever with the OS install:
-- burned and verified CD using DiscJuggler (PC)
-- made sure no USB device connected to OASYS
-- used "Method 1 CD" described in update .pdf |
