Hi, I did make an ISO copy to a CD, went global, update system,
get message 'installation unsuccesful'. At least the Oasys is still working,
no freeze but I will wait till this is sorted out.
One thing: my CD drive refused to open, had to use a pin.
Otherwise I can see all the files (boot, lilo etc.)
Anybody have a suggestion??
Rudolf

I'm sorry that you've encountered difficulties.
I'd suggest burning another disk, and verifying the ISO image after doing so.
Please let me know if this works.

I tried two iso disks, and was dumb to boot from the CD as is another
possibility, now I get error code 2, unable to update and the machine
now will not boot up anymore, gets stuck in the black screen with
boot from CD (no CD in the bay).
WHat to do, what to do... How annoying.

Also, what version was your OASYS running prior to the attempted update?

Do you have a USB storage device plugged in to your OASYS? If so, you should try the updater again without any USB storage devices attached.

I had the latest OS before attempting 1.3.

No USB attached.

Now I restarted, and it must be re-authorized!!!

What do I do?..

I have no idea what to do now. Should I shut down the Oasys?

It just sits there with the white text on blue screen: "This Oasys must be re-authorized before it can be used."

I'm getting nervous for real now..

Try booting with the update CD in the drive and running the update again, do you see the same error?

Did you verify your update CD's data using your CD burning software after burning it?

Going back to a previous version of OASYS without doing a full format will only result in a re-authorization message that will not go away... if you don't have any data on your OASYS that is not backed-up, then feel free to go this route, otherwise, I suggest you hold on for a bit while we try to figure out what it is that people are seeing.

A full format of what, the hard drive? The thing is hanging, so nothing
can be accessed from within the Oasys.

For anyone having installation issues, please see Dan's post in this thread posted at Mon Oct 01, 2007 11:24 am.

It is very important that you not start installing older versions or reformat unless you're sure you don't have important, un-recoverable data on the OASYS.

Yes, I understand that. When you got your installation error, was it the same "unable to update kernel" error that others are reporting, or another error?

Have you followed Dan's advice and tried to re-burn the CD image and verify the data?

I burned two ISO images. None worked. The message was
through global/system update: unsuccesful. At that point I could
still turn it off and on, and things were as before.
Booting however was disastrous from the CD. Error code 2 and
a dead Oasys.
