|
|
I just purchased a Roland XR rack unit. I hooked up the midi out of my Pa1xPro to the midi in of the Rack unit.
I can not get any sounds out of the rack unit when I play my Korg.
When I hook up the Roland to my computer with midi and play a midi song, I get sounds out of the Roland unit.
What am I doing wrong? Thanks. |

Doesn't anybody know why the Roland rack does not see my Pa1xPro? There must be some settings I need to change. Please help! |

Thank you very much for your help.
Yes it is set to OUT.
The Roland unit is not receiving any midi information from the Korg. The midi light on the XR NEVER flashes as it did when I hooked it up to my PC.
What else can I check? |

Check this :
turn your PA1x in SONG PLAY mode, and then
global>menu>midi>Tab Midi Out Channel :
Ch01: > Seq1 Tr 01
Ch02: > Seq1 Tr 02
...
...
...
Ch16: >Seq1 Tr 16
If you turn your Pa1x in STYLE PLAY mode before checking this tab you should get :
Ch01: > upper 1
Ch02: > upper 2
...
Ch09: >Bass
Ch10: >drum
Ch11: >percussion
...
Ch16: >Acc5 _________________ http://galettouille.perso.neuf.fr/ |

I have not tried your suggestions but I did try something else with very interesting results.
Using a M-Audio UNO midi device I hooked up the Korg's midi out to my computer. I opened a program called MIDIOX.
Right on the screen I could see that when I played the Korg the Channel 1 lights lite up. So that means the Korg is outputting midi data over Channel 1.
Just for laughs I took the other end of the midi cable (midi in) in plugged it into the Roland XR. Now when I play the Korg the Roland unit works.
I get sound and the midi light on the Roland's front panel flashes.
So can someone tell me why I need to go through my computer as opposed to just plugging a midi cable from the out of the Korg to the in of the Roland? Thank you. |

Probably something with the midi cable itself. Midi need only two wire to transmit datas. Midi sockets have 5 pins. The key is probably here, and changing your midi cable could resolve your problem. _________________ http://galettouille.perso.neuf.fr/ |

I wish is was that easy. I've tried 2 different midi cables and both do not work. |

I'm embarrassed to say it was a MIDI CABLE. Actually I had 2 bad midi cables. When the one didn't work I tried the other and it didn't solve the problem so that's why I didn't think it was the cable. I was at the music store and something just made me buy a couple of new ones and it worked, go figure.
I tell you this Fantom XR has some really cool sounds. |

Yes I did and it really sounds good. Although this Roland unit is not easy to program, I have to say that the manual is well written. |
