|
|
Will it be possible to have all of the OASYS EXs piano, brass and woodwind and Karo Strings, all in memory at the one time?
If not, will it be possible to intelligently load and manage sub-sets of each of the Brass-Woodwind, and Karo Strings, in order to build full orchestral palettes?
If such management is not possible, would there be a case to suggest for future upgrades to both EXs structure (and to the Karo Strings package) the ability to load subsets of entire sample sets for this reason? I'm asking from a position of complete ignorance on these packages, so perhaps all of this is in place already?
Thanks,
Kevin. _________________ Kevin Nolan

Not likely.
EXs-1 = 313MB
EXs-2 = 503MB
EXs-3 = 700MB
Total used 1.5GB
What would be handy is if KORG allowed you to only load what you want from the EXs libraries.

I totally agree.
I imagine I would like to combine some new brass and woodwind samples with the Karo string samples (beautiful library)

Hehe, precisely what I suggested in our Future Wishlist thread here:

That would be super-cool...

Thanx Arend and Peter (PM),
KARO makes it possible without sample rate conversion
Take care,

Yup! That's on my wish-list.

Also.. by Dan:
Quote: | The KARO products use RAM samples, and so they are not currently part of the auto-load mechanism. As I've stated before, we are aware that auto-loading of RAM samples is a desireable feature, and it's on my personal
Wish list for the future.

Dan said it not once but twice, i think we're on to something here - in the future - that is

Isn't compression of the EXS-1 and EXS-2 expansions part of the new OS? That should help a lot.
I'm particularly excited for the compression because it will probably allow the keyboard to boot faster. I play live, and I once leaned on the power button right before starting a set. There's nothing like making a bunch of people wait for something stupid you did! |

The compression is in at around 10% so it's not going to free up huge amounts of memory.
Also, at the speed the OASYS loads data, the savings on memory really will only make a few seconds of a difference on the bootup.
