I know the ESX samples and the EMX doesnt. I heard some people have both of them. What does the EMX do that the ESX can not? Looking to buy one or both. Any help would be appreciated.

They are two radically different machines. The ESX allows you to load your own sample hits and loops to create sounds/patterns. The EMX can only use a fixed set of samples to use for drum parts, you can't load samples into it. Instead it has 5 mono synth parts that use a bunch of synthesis techniques for creating sounds.

Sampler vs Synth ... which do you prefer or need ? For some it's both.

Daz.

They both compliment and feed off of each other..... they're cool on their own but together they make a wicked duo.

How do they communicate with each other? Through midi? and what can they do as a duo? Is there a link where I can hear them working together?

If you can do what this guy does on the EMX and combine it with skills on the ESX, you're made!

I read of alot of posts asking whether or not o buy a n MX or SX . There is also an option of buying an MX and ES1( mkI , as i find the mkII's sound odd) for a reasonable price , and putting the ES-1 through the MX to get beef up and tube the sounds .
Its not quite an ESX but the results are impressive/satisfying , but there is not keboard part to play samples over notes like in a traditional sampler, its really best at drums although you will no doubt find alot to be had from the setup .
I much prefer the sound of my old EA-1 and ES-1 to those of the MKII model , as the sound is 32khz rather than 44khz meaning that they sounds a bit more lo-fi , and not so cold.
The choice is yours though .
