Hi,
I have Adobe Audition 1.0 as my recording software. Can anyone tell me if it's possible to load in a midifile and to have Audition separate the tracks such that each track is editable or mixable? |

Sorry, but you can NOT do that because Adobe Audition is a multitrack AUDIO ONLY recording program.

Hi Tom (or anyone else),
Is it possible with Sonar 7 Producer (multitrack Audio AND MIDI)?
I suppose, the question really is:
I want my PA50 tracks to be separate for each instrument within the arrangement, so they can be mixed individually within Sonar 7.
Possible?

I believe you can import a MIDI file and depending on the type (1 or 0) it will ask if you want to separate the tracks. I remember many years ago I could do that with Cakewalk, so I am sure it made it's way into Sonar.

Also, I saw that there is a Cakewalk Template for the PA50. So, next question would be: recording straight into Sonar from the PA50 on separate tracks... hm... something to figure out.

Well the way to record tracks from PA50 would be to hook up MIDI to and from your computer to your PA50. Then you can either set the PA50 to sync to an external clock, or vice versa with your software.
Arm one track at a time in Sonar, and solo one track at a time on your PA50. That way you can drop all tracks in separately and synced together.

Interesting! Is that possible with one of the Styles? I mean, can I go in and mute part of the style, record into SONAR, then to the next part of the style and so on?
Pardon me if I sound ignorant... well, I really am, to be honest. I really am still learning, especially as far as MIDI is concerned.

I don't have a PA50, nor have I really ever played one. So I really don't know much about how the tracks work. So as far as the Styles are concerned, I am lost.
However, if you can mute parts that are playing, that is what I mean by soloing out parts. Mute everything but what you want recorded on the one track.
