Hi everyone

i know this question has been hunting a lot of us, but since the latest PA5X’s OS, are there still problems with the keyboard? Is it worth changing the 4x for a 5x?

Thanks

The latest OS 1.3.0 seems to be causing several owners serious problems (per posts in this forum) and some are reinstalling OS 1.2.1, but if you can cope with such problems and the new look & feel suits you, then go for it - BUT DO NOT SELL YOUR PA4X.
My personal answer is don't go near it until it is stable and fixed - stay with your PA4x.

In my opinion:

- If you are purchasing a Pa5x so you can load your older Pa4x or 3x sets, then don't do it.

- If you are going to purchase a Pa5x and you will load some key samples and sounds from previous models but you still plan on creating new stuff on the 5x itself, then absolutely go for it because the quality, the feel, the options, and so much more are better than a Pa4x.

I'm still missing some key features that were in the 4x, especially the quick record and a couple of other things, but I've never had any issues with freezing or anything major that I can't live without. But like I said, I upgraded to a 5x so I can do new stuff with it, not to simply load my older sets.

I’d suggest a different tack.

Buy a 5X but keep the 4X

Always have a backup keyboard. I notice some the factory styles do not have the quality or needs more gain. So if you still have the PA4x, you might want to convert those few to 5x or Edit it. I would recommend, but if I’d do it again, I would have bought the PA5x Musikant. Many more variety of styles that suit my shows better.
So far no issues on any of the last 3 upgrades. But still use the pa1000 with the Musikant add-on on gigs. It is more of a joy to have at home a newer model. Soon I will receive the PAAS MK2. Never had this before but excited to add to the PA5x.
Note: I am more of a ballroom player and do not need all the features others require. Maybe that is where the troubles are? As some are reporting?

Hi everyone,

Thank you so much for your inputs and recommendations.

IF I buy it, I will definitely keep the 4x for quite some time specially for live performances until we get a full performing keyboard out of the 5x, but I don’t see the benefit of having it till then.

Thank you again!

I sold the 4x before getting the 5x and paid the price very badly. I sold my 5x as it is very unreliable. I wanted to get a 4 x again and it is impossible to find a 4x here in Australia these days.

That is what I did. I have my 4x at church and my 5x to practice at home with. I still think the 4x is a very good keyboard. Everybody where I play, including me, likes the sounds it produces. I have found over my 74 years that the average person is not as critical as us musicians. We seem to make a big deal over the smallest detail and nobody in the audience even notices. Most the time even the singers don't even notice. I just enjoy playing and making people happy.
