My KronosX has an issue where the RAM -which is the RAM that lays flat like PC RAM, NOT the 6 inch or so "standing" RAM like old PCs. I accidenctally bent and many have lost a very small metal sheath that holds the 2nd, or TOP, RAM Slot. The bottom slot is fine. I have managed to get a 1 gb DIMM/SIMM on the bottom and a 2 gb one in the uppermost slot.

Is it possible to use a single 4g RAM Stick (the smaller 4" wide type) as my only RAM? I realize Linux will top off at 3.25GB. It would be nice to just use one chip. I have 2 RAM SIMMS currently working, a 1gb and a 2gb. Shouldn't 3 gigs be enough?

Just curious if I can swap out all my RAM onto just one chip.

Thanks people.

One single 4 GB RAM module is what I have in my K2. The maximum available RAM in a K2 is 1960 MB. The rest of the 4 GB is used by the OS and Kronos systems. Check how much total RAM you have right now in Global Mode as a comparison (KSC Auto-Load, add the values of the blue, red and green boxes).

I always thought that the maximum RAM available for usage in total was 3.25, due to the limitations of the Linux OS. Anyway, my Kronos ate the shat and I just replaced it with a Kronos X. This one is very very clean. I got 3 GB installed (2g + 1G). I'm just gonna live with that, seems like plenty.

Not I have to start a new thread on how to get all the libraries I paid for again!

Do you have a link to the retailer/model number of that 4 gb?
THanks,
Eric
