|
|
Today I managed to pick up a brand-new, factory sealed Krome Ex and I am stoked. It’s like a little Kronos! There’s definitely some improvements in the UI between the Krome and the Kronos I wish they had ported over too.
Does anyone know what the latest version of the Krome Ex firmware is? This one shipped with with 2.0.1, but can’t see any information on the Krome Ex download page.
Thanks!

I agree that the Krome is a lovely board.
It doesn't have the Kronos's audio side, and it only has a rompler engine (although if you know what you're doing, it's basically a VA system under the hood) and its effects stack caps out at 8 (including MFX and TFX) but it's a lovely synth in its own right and the pianoroll's automation lane is a great way of drawing in expression. |

"System Updater" should be available under https://www.korg.com/us/support/download/product/0/810/
but as you noted, it's no longer there. Strange.
There is Krome (not SE) firmware on i.korg.com under the discontinued list, but it is an old version 1.0.3 from 2013. Certainly don't use that!
Krome EX is presumably stil supported by Korg since it's still on their product page, though it's rarely seen for sale new and in-stock. Krome EX seems to be in a sort of purgatory state w.r.t. sales and support. _________________ bpoodoo

Thank you both for your responses. Besides trying to determine if there was a new firmware available for my specific unit, I was also trying to determine if the version mine shipped with (2.0.1) is newer than other published releases, as the newest version I had previously seen was 1.0.4. A new firmware version might point to a new production run with updated parts, as my local distributor recently informed me that the Krome wasn't discontinued, but was rather impaced by parts shortages. _________________ Current Equipment:
