Anyone know what's with the cheap looking pa5X 88-key wood end-plates?

They are just thin pieces of wood - with screw-holes showing, etc...
No angles - just flat thin pieces of wood.
The 61-key and 76-key version have the usual nicer thicker wood pieces with angles, etc, and no screw-holes showing - just not the 88-key.
The 88-key Nautilus, Kronos, etc. (all cheaper than the 88-key Pa5X) had a lot nicer looking thicker end-plates with angles, etc - and no shown screw-holes.
WTH...? |

For the sake of consistency I guess KORG could have used the same shape ends, but they didn’t. For what reason, I don’t know. I’m sure it makes sense to someone in KORG.
Regards

They are just very cheap looking and unattractive.
Especially on such a nice looking, and very expensive, keyboard.
It looks like it was just a prototype that they quickly had to slap some ends on - and no one told them to change them in final production. |

Hi G,
have you actually seen one or just a picture?
Solid enough and mine looks brilliant on my ex es920 piano stand 😀 _________________ best wishes

All those other instruments with wood endplates come from korg Japan, the pa5x is Korg Italy..
Overhere in europe the pa5x is still moths away, as it has been since release…. Whats taking them so long. _________________ Korg Kronos 2/88 , Genos, Mainstage3 +VSTsu, ipad pro, GSi Gemini, Roland Integra 7, Jupiter Xm, Yamaha motif XS rack, Ketron SD90.

Hi Bachus, I didn’t realise that. I just checked the box , yep, made in Italy.🙂
I’ve had mine for over 6 months.
Aust. must have gotten them fairly early. Just the international version we can’t get Musikant. _________________ best wishes

Well, i have been waiting for a topmodel with 88 keys since saying goodbye to my GEM SK880…. So i can hold a little longer, just checked, ordered 10 months ago..
You must be feeling incredible lucky with your 88? Assuming you are enjoying it. Seems a perfect fit for both of us _________________ Korg Kronos 2/88 , Genos, Mainstage3 +VSTsu, ipad pro, GSi Gemini, Roland Integra 7, Jupiter Xm, Yamaha motif XS rack, Ketron SD90.

Hi Bachus, yes I’m enjoying it. Worked out out perfectly for me. Sold my Kawai es920 that I was using as controller for sx900, using PA5x instead.
The odd bug that wasn’t addressed in last update,is annoying , hopefully addressed in next update , there’s currently missing functions, Korg are addressing those

Personally I haven’t been affected that much, I’ve come up with workarounds for myself.
I’m just happy to have a Korg again. Sold my PA4x 4 years ago thinking a new model would be announced any day. I was so WRONG😂.
Hopefully you get to at least see one soon. _________________ best wishes
