Hi all, if you want to see some of my performances on PA5X, please visit the channel in my signature. I had one video removed today by YT for copyright reasons. If a second follows, my channel will be shut down. I’m sad and very disappointed that companies (in my case Universal) have a song removed played by a complete amateur that doesn’t earn a penny with his music and only plays for fun (as stated on my channel) and to share some of my knowledge of the PA5X with other musicians. Go get real crooks, is what I’m thinking. I don’t think any artist will experience a slowdown in their income because of my videos. I would love to see some common sense, but that’s hard to find these days I guess. Sad, sad, sad…

Yes, YouTube seems to be unfairly selective in this regard - mainly because you are "publicly" playing someone else's music and that entitles the owners to royalties so YouTube do not want repercussions.
Whether you are "paid" or not is irrelevant.

I've had one of mine removed in the past for similar reasons - so my question is how do so so many youtube "covers" get away with it?????

Yeah, I know this is an ongoing issue and composers of most music are very unfairly treated in this regard (for many years).
Licences are available to overcome this (your) issue.

Also, certain "owners" of music are very strict on "covers" of their music in any form - one example: Disney - huge huge fines if you're caught publicly playing (or making available) Disney owned music whether for money or not!!!

Check this out:-

Take care

I've never had takedowns (yet) on my YouTube...

I do often get copyright claims though, usually for my own originals, but occasionally for other covers or interpretatons (some of which should not have been copyright claimed in the first place since the works are classical compositions in the public domain -- such as Bach prelude in C major from WTC book 1, Chopin Ab waltz "l'Adieu", etc.)

For the ones which are erroneously claimed (my own or public domain) I regularly submit claim disputes which are often released in a couple of days with no hassle.

YT will decide whenever they will terminate your channel if they find that they don't have the required profit , no matter of
copyright claims and they will never explain the actual reason , always using the silly gum of community rules violation ...

Get rid of google YT scammers , use the excellent video platform Dailymotion.com and upload your Music videos you perform
with zero issues and have fun ...
