I know factory presets are locked. Is there an option to lock user created presets, or even individual layers as well? For instance, I created a long rhythmic sequence, then decided to try a multisample, and wiped out all the rhythmic values in doing so. The ability to lock a layer would help prevent this sort of mishap.

You can turn on Memory Protect on the Utility > Preferences page, which will prevent anything from being overwritten.

That said, the way the Wavestate handles writing data to the synth may be different than what you're used to, if you're coming from using synths with a limited amount of patch slots that you have to overwrite. The only limitation to the number of Performances or other data you can have is based on the available memory.

You can prevent overwriting anything by using the Shift-Write option to save an edited version that's different from the original. The Wavestate will save a new edit/copy of your Performance, thus preserving the original's layers, wavesequences, etc. In this way, you can have multiple versions of the same performance, and all its parts will be tied to only the newly saved performance(s), never affecting the original data. Once you've got a finalized version you are happy with, you can delete the older temporary edits, if you want.
