Occasionally I get the settings just right (really only occasionally!)
Just did a recording on the Pa3x using the vocal harmonizer and custom piano and for once was quite pleased with the result.

If you are interested you can download the midi (which includes viewable lyrics and chords) here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B4_6p-MMrzwLSmF4aFo2TlZUdkk/view?usp=sharing

O take me back to the 70's....

Superb job on the harmonies, John. I know what you mean by "occasionally getting them right". I don't record anything, but getting them right on gigs, with the variations of different rooms, is certainly a challenge often enough.

Quick question: Are you using a bit of 'doubling' on the backing harmony parts? They sound wonderfully full. Again, great job. Very Happy

Hi Giner,
The harmonizer settings are nothing special, just 1 up and 1 down, V1 panned 40L and V2 panned 40R, humanize style Natural at 50 and vibrato style Easy at 50, source Chord Scan.
I'm using a Shure SM58 mic and I find getting the EQ settings on it right is really important. What seems to work for me is to set the Lows (151Hz) at -6, the mids at 3db, 1.8 and 1076Hz, and the Highs at 7db at 1612Hz.
Nice to hear from you and thanks for the positive comments.
John

Thanks for the clip John, like Giner I've struggled to get this right. The biggest breakthrough was to send the vocals via the 1 & 2 outputs into a separate channel in the mixer.
I'll give your settings a try.

I love the vocal harmonizer but I wish Korg would have given us an option for MOMENTARY harmony instead of LATCH On and Latch OFF. I am not sure why that is so hard to do. I am talking about in Song Mode. I have to hit the pedal twice, once to turn the Harmony ON and than Again to turn the Harmony OFF, sorry just dumb programming.

thanks to both of you for the comps .i'e really practice to use the effect in the right places .. sometimes I tend to over do it ...that why i will record a song & sing at my desk listening back , i can usually pick the spots where it just should be a straight voice .. also nothing elaborate with the setting , i double the lead ,one up one down on the harmony but keep the volume down ...thanks again

I have played in clubs for 30 years with many keyboards the PA3x did not exist 30 years ago ..but your idea is really smart. A momentary switch that would activate the harmonizer and then stop it when released. I NEVER even tought of that before reading your post
