Is there any benefit to recording via the optical output vs. the analog outputs, particularly wrt recording quality (avoiding the D to A to A to D bits)? Would this limit or expand the number of output channels?
Thanks,

1°) Even if the Kronos A/D - D/A converters are of high quality, of course a digital output is fully lossless. (the use of balanced TRS cables on analog outputs is higlnhy recommended)
2°) Whether Optical spdif or USB audio outputs, or the Analog outputs, the same Main L/R Output is carried out.
3°) The 4 auxilliary analog outputs are not duplicated on digital outputs. |

They both give you 24bit/48kHz sample rate signal. Futher depends on external gear you use. _________________ Korg KronosX/Pa4x/M3 • Ableton • Komplete 13 • Omnisphere • soundcloud.com/allandd |
