Hello,

After Kronos 61 and now after Kronos LS I have Nautilus 73. But I have one problem. My SSD is suddenly full. I had about 5GB of free space left and I was far from saving all the sounds I had on Kronos. The file manager is pretty spartan. It doesn't establish a network connection for me, even though I have an Ethernet adapter that works with Kronos. I ordered two more different ones to connect the PC to the Nautilus.
However, I am interested in the possibility of replacing the SSD with a larger one. The current one is 60GB. Does anyone have experience with this and what is the right path? I would replace it with at least 250GB.
And this one in addition. I bought 4 more sound banks at Kronos. Is it possible to transfer ownership to Nautilus?
Thank you for the advice and help.

Is there really no one who has the experience or desire to do this?

The SSD is (apparently) located on the underside of the motherboard. I've opened my Nautilus and looked but the SSD is not visible. Removing the motherboard to get to the underside would take a bit of dismantling that I'm not interested in pursuing at this point. Based on the motherboard used, the SSD is likely mini-SATA. There is a rumor the SSD is soldered to the connector, but that hasn't been confirmed.

This thread provides more detail. http://www.korgforums.com/forum/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=125107

My gut tells me Korg intentionally made the Nautilus less expandable and more locked down to improve reliability. Most of the problems with the Kronos relate to internal connections, be that RAM or other connections, losing contact resulting in crashes. These are portable devices and need to be exceedingly robust.

Regarding the Kronos libraries on the Nautilus. That hasn't been worked out yet but it's possible it will be in the near future.

I really suggest you live with the limits of the 60GB. Decided what you really need and only load that onto it. I have successfully used the Apple USB-Ethernet adapter on both my Kronos and Nautilus.

Thanks for the comprehensive answer burningbusch.

I was thinking something similar. Especially in terms of extension rigidity. So the solution is only a 128GB USB key. I don’t know, however, how it will be there with the registration of an individual sound bank.

I looked where the SSD is. And yes. It is on the bottom of the motherboard. Is it performed by Mini SATA ?! It is not difficult to replace. The question is how to clone it. I ordered a Msata SSD 256GB and a case. Does anyone have any idea what program to use for this? I assume the operating system is in Linux format.

I bought the SSK DK100 USB 3.0 to SATA Dual-Bay External Hard Drive Docking Station, linked below, to make the cloning and connecting processes simple when I did the upgrades for a couple of my K2s:

https://www.amazon.com/SSK-Aluminum-External-Duplicator-Function/dp/B07WS59SP4

This device features a built-in clone function which will make an identical copy of the original drive onto a new SSD drive.

Thanks for doing this. Glad to see we can put to rest the rumor that the drive is soldered to the connector.

Busch.

What are the dimensions of the 60 GB Msata SSD, is it 1.8 inches or 2.5?

I do not know. I suggest you open your Nautilus. Remove the bottom. The motherboard is held in place by four screws. On the right side (seen from the back) is a short connector that needs to be removed. Below is the SSD. Report the exact measure. I’m more interested in the fact that there’s currently nothing to get other than 512GB. At least not here. I have a concern that the SSD will be too big.

i took your advice, i opened the Nautilus and removed the motherboard and removed the 60gb Msata and replaced with a 128gb Transcend brand to test and it works the size of the new drive in media info gives 115gb. Be careful, this is Msata and not Sata! just a screw holds the SSD it's small! I have seen several sizes, from 128 to 512 GB there I will order a 256 GB (Transcend TS256GMSA230S 256GB | mSATA). I think the loading is a little faster ..., I worked with Linux to do the partition modification!

Great. Thanks for that info ilsa. I ordered 256GB. Thanks in advance for the record and instructions on how to do the data transfer. Together, however, we only find some good solution.

I created a tutorial to upgrade the hard drive of the nautilus mSATA 60GB, at home with a 128GB mSATA, I'm preparing a full video for more details, if all goes well for tomorrow.
Happy reading while waiting for the video.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask them.
We can put an mSATA from 128 to 512 GB!
Attention, to modify the extended partition, you must use gparted (linux!), But possible to create a live cd / usb! by gparted.
This tutorial is for experienced people!
good reading

Hello, I made this tutorial which explains how to change the hard drive of the Nautilus, Be careful with the joystick not to break it! turning the Nautilus over on the table
Good reading. I will put others soon ...
I made this video quickly and it's a first for me, please be forgiving, there are some peaks and some cuts in the sound, using unsuitable software! and for lack of time too!
I will translate the text of the video into English ...

video link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JKtZqYk84sE

I put two documents online, one in French the other in English to have the explanations at hand, but the video gives more information.
Here is the link to download the documents:
