|
|
Hi all
I took a punt and bought a volca bass for AU$50. The function button is not working so its usability is fairly limited. Everything else seems to function okay. I took it apart and inspected it and cleaned all contacts. I couldn't see anything unusual (no dry or broken solder joints, pads all clean).
I can't do a reset or update the software as the function button is required so I'm totally stuck. Any ideas? |

Hi, I had same issue with my Bass after using it for 6 yrs, friend has story (but with happy end) with ESX or EMX, another guy with apc mini or smthng like that.. . This trouble has pretty well known source, the line of rubber buttons has conductive "paint" (based on graphite i think) on bottom, and it's just not there forever, every push makes it thinner...and FUNC as most used button gets lost his layer first.
Anw You have to remove all the layers, not just the 1st one to get there As you can see (scroll down to 2.1.), i tried to repair.

I bought some conductive paint, but it was just wasted money (ok, few bucks), it has more resistance than conductivity and I wasn't careful during applying, and definitely I put it together too soon, it was wet yet..
So next time I tried to be more precise and followed the "manual", but result was like nothing, FUNC still didn't worked. And finally, the paint (also dry then) doesn't hold well on ther rubber, so it was generally bad idea. Maybe some glued pieces of alufoil can do better, but who has patience for that?
Then I stopped be careful and probably reversed the polarity of DC input, so it goes silent and now it waits for second life (I hope it just burned some protection part and rest is healthy, but meanwhile I bought the second one (used ofc) and now I'm thinking about another modifications than the basics. _________________ Digitakt, ER-1, Volca Beats + Bass + Modular, Neutron, k-2, Microfreak, Liven XFM, Beatstep Pro, Keystep, UC-33e, few FX (Zoom G1four, Razzor DD+DS, EHX Platform+HolyStain, Samson C.com), Mackie 1202 VLZ4, pair of RCF AyraPro6 |
