Hi all,

I have had my EK50 for about 6 months and I am really enjoying it. I decided to plug it into my computer to use as a midi keyboard controller but can’t get either Reaper or Ableton Live Lite to recognize it. Here is what I have already done:

I downloaded and installed the midi driver software from the Korg website.
In the EK50 settings I changed Midi Clock to external and turned Local sound to off. (I can’t remember for sure what this was called but it had the word local in the setting.)

In the Windows 10 device manager I can see a listing for the Korg EK50 as an audio device with a little speaker icon next to it. It looks like Windows is recognizing the EK50 as an audio device, not a midi device.

Can anyone suggest something else to try?

Thanks.

I've had no problem when playing programs like Miditzer in WIN 10

Don't forget you need a program to play the EK-50 as a controller keyboard. You might like to try Miditzer, which is free and downloads in seconds to get you started ?

Thanks Mitzie but I found another solution that didn't involve going through additional software.

If you are having a similar problem on the EK50 .... or any one of a number of other Korg keyboards, take a look at this video for the solution:
