Hi folks.

I've searched online generally and these forums for mention of a similar issue, and I can't find anything, so I figured I'd post what's going on and ask if anybody has any ideas.

I got the Trinity new in about 1995, and I started having this problem around 2005 (I wasn't able to figure out the problem myself and I packed it up for a while - recently unpacked it and the problem persists). The first problem was the floppy drive started to be intermittently unresponsive, and it finally died. Later, everything ran at what seems like half speed, and still does: the refresh rate on the LCD is obviously slow and it flickers slowly too. The system boots and loads the OS at a crawl, but it does load. Finally, when everything loads, the oscillators play at half speed, so the sound is distorted.

To troubleshoot, I ran the onboard diagnostics, and everything came back clean: no problems reported. I opened it up and checked the power supply, even took out the power supply board and tested all the capacitors on it: no problems. I checked the floppy drive, and the belt had turned brittle, but a belt should be easy to replace.

I'm stumped, though. I can't figure out what is causing everything to run at sort of half-speed, though. Maybe it's a faulty clock crystal or something? Has anybody heard of a Trinity behaving like this, or does anybody have any clues?

Thank you very much!

Where was it being stored prior to taking it back out and starting it up?
Sounds like it was stored somewhere where the weather went from cold to hot to very hot
I still have one myself but I am trying to figure out why when I load the Korg Trinity Dance Waves and Drum PCM Playback Sampler Option TFD-3S (Disks 1-7) the drum sounds are loaded but the drum kits are not showing up in the OSC choice
