Thanks! |

Hi Tom, did the manual cover this ?
Program/Combi mode have a drum track tab.
Dig a little thru the tabs and you will see it _________________ Kronos 88. MODX8

It can be confusing where the drum track page is located, since it changes depending on which engine type or mode you're in. It's on the basic tab, easily found where you're on the HD1 engine. But if you're on an EXi program, then you have to do an additional step on the bottom row of tabs. First make sure common is selected, then still on the bottom make sure Basic / Vector is selected. Then you'll see the drum track page. Further, when you're in a combi, the drum track page is accessed from the EQ / Vector tab.
To be clear, there is only one drum track per program / combi. In the other recent post we mentioned drum track(S), but that was referring to the sequencer. There you can of course have multiple channels or tracks, whether instruments or drums.
In sequencer mode, each linear track's MIDI info is a separate affair from the Patterns page. Each linear track contains the MIDI data -- the notes -- for the whole song.
But patterns created on the Patterns / RPPR page are a separate pool of MIDI info, where you can compose your own drum loops, or bass lines or what have you, to be used on your song tracks as you want. When recording on the Patterns page, you're actually creating MIDI patterns (up to 100 per song, and stored with the song file). Then you can choose to arrange those patterns on various instrument or drum tracks. This is done with the dropdown menu Put or Copy to MIDI track.
And there is yet one more "pool" of MIDI info. As mentioned, in sequencer mode you can make your own patterns, whether drum loops or musical motifs. However, from the Patterns page you also have the option to "export" a sequencer pattern so that you can use it independently as a drum track in program / combi mode. On the pattern page, this is the dropdown option Convert to Drum Track Pattern. When done, you will then see in program mode's drum track your own User patterns that you have created. Note that these can be patterns as short as a one bar loop or as long as an entire song you may have created when in sequencer mode. |

Check out this video by Julius, it shows the drum tracks in action.

Note that you can have up to 1000 of your own User drum track patterns to be used in programs and combis. But you have to make those custom patterns or "drum tracks" in sequencer mode on the patterns page. HTH |
