The Korg Pa5x Release trailer reveal and when they would eventually be in stores to actually Buy could be months apart. Then we have to see what the selling price is and if it's worth the upgrade over the previous Pa4x? Also there could be a surprise Yamaha competition arranger release also which up to now is very tight lipped. At this point after 2 years of covid and now very low stock and bare shelves everywhere worldwide we sit and wait playing whatever we already have. But it certainly stimulates the senses wishing & hoping. |

It's not about hating or loving a company or device. I owned almost every Korg Pa instrument since the Pa80 release and still do think that for live-situations the Pa series are great devices (I own a Pa3x and have access to a Pa4x). But I also can tell you that Korg hardly brought out any real innovation in the sound programing section. It is 2021 and you still can not even set an offset point for custom samples.
I programmed a lot of sounds with mostly custom samples on Pa keyboards and found out a lot of workarounds for specific problems I faced (e.g. weak portamento-implementation, weak monophonic mode etc.). The more I tried to figure out how to make the sounds more realistic and more fun (!) to play, the more I got dissatisfied.
Did I even mention that there is still no (official) PC software for creating and editing samples/sounds/performances(keybsets)/styles/pads etc.? It's not just weak, it's emberassing for a company like Korg not providing such software for their customers.
Finally I switched to virtual instruments programming - the possibilities are almost endless. Of course on the one hand it is not a fair comparision, but on the other hand todays technology is very advanced (e.g. see todays lowmid-range smartphones) and Korg does not take any advantage of it - probably because they know people will buy their products anyways regardless if it's overpriced or not (they are).
Many long-time Korg Pa users (many of whom I know personally) don't even know basic functions. They just want a new device, no matter if it's a Pa5x or something else - they don't care about functions, they care about prestige. |
The PA4X far exceeds its original formal specifications - many FREE enhancements and new features, styles, sounds etc....
There never was any software specified - I know there are times when a PC editor would be nice but so far, I have not found anything I cannot do on board.
Seriously sounds like it is time for you to get a different brand of arranger - make sure you test it out first..
Take care |
Pc editor?
I would love an ipad edditor… or just using the gadget interface for edditing midi inside the pa5x..
Anyway, the ipad is the perfect tool to expand an arranger in every possible way (editor, sheetmusic, sound expansion, daw expansion). Its small, its accessible and it can do it all… _________________ Korg Kronos 2/88 , Genos, Mainstage3 +VSTsu, ipad pro, GSi Gemini, Roland Integra 7, Jupiter Xm, Yamaha motif XS rack, Ketron SD90.

Wow!, but what don’t they get about an NDA and release info day the 30th Korg must be pulling their hair out. Can’t wait for English vids and much more info sounds, styles and so on, and particularly the price! So important. _________________ Making music is a passion, not a choice of lifestyle |

Bad Vid quality, Bad presentation,
Nothing about sample number!
Nothing about wave editor, PC/Mac program
Nothing about Loading time(Like MEDELI loads and starts 5 sec with 800 mb.)
We have to wait for better Videos with all it can offer as new KB. _________________ www.globalsound.se

Let's hope they also added a lossless compression algorithm
It's maybe time to have a specific Pa5x topic _________________ Pa4x 76 - Sy77 |

Lots to like..... I am warming to it watching all the YouTube content that is rolling out...BUT...(((Amazed))) we lost the EC5 foot controller, you would think a xpanded version using one of the USB port would been available...
What the heck has happened to KAOSS??.. again amazed it has gone...
Will reserve proper judgement after spending some time with one tomorrow but at the moment I'm on the fence... do I want to spend the new much increased price they are asking???...
So from what I am seeing and hearing it is not one of those "must have moment".... maybe on my first date tomorrow it will be love at first sight (!) _________________ Korg PA5X-76 : Yamaha Montage M8x : Roland Jupiter 80 : Waldorf STVC : Roland Integra 7 : Waldorf Streichfett : Focal Trio6 ST6 : Studio Outboards/RME Audio Interface/A&H SQ Mixer : |
