What do you mean "a joke!!!" - I have already spent my money and reserved a metal frame....
Oh and your video link looks amazing - I love the transparent touch screen and that Korg have stopped printing those stupid little words all over the keyboard .....

Maybe people just want new toys to play around with?
I don’t think buying a new keyboard for me is about sounding better, its more about the fantastic voyage of discovering all those new features, and trying to find a way to use them.. _________________ Korg Kronos 2/88 , Genos, Mainstage3 +VSTsu, ipad pro, GSi Gemini, Roland Integra 7, Jupiter Xm, Yamaha motif XS rack, Ketron SD90.

For me, its almost certain that newer models sound worse then previous.
AI2 synths sounded fantastic, HI great and punchy, then EDS came... a flat dull sound where you need to adjust equalizer to make it somewhat nice.
I have to admit though that pa4x/700/1000 sound better than pa3x/600/900, by far. |

I saw the metal frame pictures and laughed. Anyone who has disassembled a Korg keyboard knows that the chassis is plastic inside. Metal trim exoskeleton pieces are added for marketing purposes. |

Hi Friends:
I am dissapointed with Korg, it seems that there is no more to offer.
If those photos published with the 16 pads are true, Korg make a poor copy of Roland FA, a poor copy of Genos with its multyline display under sliders and RGB switches, and the worst, sliders are "mini sliders".-
What most of us expects is a arranger workstation, with a synth engine inside, better midi editor, and SSD similar to Kronos.-
It seems it will be an expensive toy.-
By the way, if Korg support is allways in silent mode why are censured lots of videos or photos about PA5x ????
With regards

Hadn't noticed the mini-sliders!!!
If this latest photo is the real deal:-
They've copied the Genos with the row of buttons with displays.
The Mini-sliders would be better placed nearer the keys like Genos.
The Mini-sliders are a big negative - like the Casio MZ-X500!!!! SLIDERS NEED DISTANCE to travel!!!
Pads don't excite me at all - they just chew up more control surface space - maybe 8, not 16.
Yes, getting very Roland FA like which caused me to sell mine - mainly the multifunction controls - inconvenient when playing live.
We're getting anxious about this photo which, of course could be (and hopefully is) fake but it looks like way too much stuffed onto the control surface.
Arrangers, in particular, have always been performer keyboards and not workstations. Trying to combine the two is a nightmare for the player when there are too many multi-function buttons and sliders.
Korg should just replace (upgrade) the PA4X OS/CPU/RAM/STORAGE, add WiFi and offer a couple of new colours - I am really so hoping these rumour pictures are not genuinely the big new upgrade!!!
Time will tell (if I live that long).

You seem to have knowledge........
....comparing slider positioning in the picture with my PA4X, they are definitely shorter.... _________________ PA4X-76, Karma, WaveDrum GE, Fantom 8 EX

Look at the photo comparing matrix of pa4x and pa5x. Check here _________________ Korg pa5x vs Genos 2 - spec comparison |

OK, maybe you're right but I was comparing the photo - hard to tell.
If I carry on trying to figure out the blurred photo then...
No "Bass Inversion" button (this is a Yamaha absent feature)
I can't see modes selection
Vocal Harmony controls
Start/Stop style play buttons
Fade in/out buttons
Tap Tempo and tempo controls (metronome) might be there - too blurred
Style bank select buttons
Style/Sound balance control
Oh there's more but I'm sure you're sick of it....
As this is all guesswork, it seems Korg may have stuffed controls into the OS display - terrible downside with Genos.
...or the display row with corresponding buttons ???
(So far, this hype and speculation is making me love my PA4X even more..... )
OK, so we still really don't know any details and so far no-one has official information or will admit sources of the rumours.
"They" say it will be with us next month.
Can't wait to get my hands on the manual.

Pete | +1, agreed.
It's like expecting to add some aircraft or helicopter features (ex; flying... ) in a car (that is design for regular transport on the ground).
Personally I don't mind to have some good synth engine, VSTs in an arranger on the condition that it does not make a nightmare (as Pete mentioned) for the player.
I think the development and improvement of an arranger should stay first on the way where a live keyboard performer use it. |
