just realized , if i change a setting , saved the style with the guitar which is on ST4 , after i save it , change to a different favorite , come back & it did not save ,,,also on the Global perf. page i noticed it says "FORCE PCM RELOAD " what is this ? is this stopping the memory from saving things ..???

I'm not sure about the Style saving problem. Maybe you have Factory Style Protect turned on. I'd be inclined to save any changes as a Sonbook entry and leave the factory styles unchanged.
As for "Force PCM Reload" This is to be used in the (rare) case you have User PCM samples (eg my Yamaha C5 Piano) that for some reason did not load correctly when you turned the instrument on. The User samples are held in RAM with the instrument off by being powered by the battery so normally do not need to be reloaed. If the battery fails or is removed then they should load automatically in any case.
Merry Christmas!
