Hey guys.

My SP-280 just started exhibiting some weird behaviour - every C#, F, and A key (across the entire keyboard) seems to be lacking touch-sensitivity and just plays at max volume (or at least, much louder than the other keys).

Any idea what might be causing this, or how I may resolve it?

Thanks!

First thing I would try is to power off the piano, remove any connected devices including the damper pedal, and then power it back on to see what happens. This will eliminate the possibility that something is amiss with an externally connected device. If this does clear the problem, reconnect the devices one at a time, until the problem occurs again. Be sure to never connect anything to the piano while the power is on... always shut the power off before connecting anything to the piano.

If that doesn't work the second thing I'd try is a factory reset (check your user manual for the procedure to perform this or call KORG customer service to see if this can be done). If the piano behaves after the reset, you know it was something that occurred in the OS and was subsequently overwritten by the factory reset.

If the above doesn't work, it's probably time to think about sending it off for diagnosis and repair. It could be something as simple as a loose connection somewhere, or as serious as a failed internal component.

Good Luck!

Thank you, DenGNNJ. I appreciate your response.

I tried your suggestions before Xmas with no luck (after it being in that state already for months) and ended up just giving up and leaving it until a few days ago - now the issue seems to have resolved itself!

My theory is that it was too cold & damp in the room - I've had a space heater drying things out for a few weeks, so perhaps there was a moisture-related short or something.

Whatever the case, I'm glad it's working now!
