I've been looking for a good stand that I can use when I take the Kronos out for a show. I've got a cheap keyboard stand that I've been using for keeping the Kronos at home, but I REALLY don't want to use this stand when I take it out (it's unstable and wobbles quite a bit). My first thought was to look to Jordan Rudess' stand for his Kronos. Anybody got any info on that stand? Twould be nice to recreate something so stable and sturdy.
If not, anybody got any recommendations for a really good stand for the Kronos? Something that'll keep the Kronos stable and that'll calm my fears of it falling. |

Which one of Jordan Rudess' stands is being referred to. His tiltable, turnable stand is made from unobtainium, as it is a custom jobbie. Amongst others, he has used the Apex Ultimate stands, which can look quite impressive on stage, but these may have been supplied by Korg for Kronos demos.

I have a similar " Z" style for my MODX 8. Its perfect. Very fair price. _________________ Kronos 88. MODX8

I have two of the Ultimate Apex stands (AX48 Pro), and I’m very happy with them. They are very sturdy, even for the Kronos 73/88, and easily portable.
I have custom pedalboards which I built to fit over the legs and have a ton of room for accessories, cabling and power strips.
I have the boom mic adapters also, and finally found a boom arm I was able to adapt to allow me to adjust the angle and height just right (I use a dock and iPad holder mounted to the mic arm). |

I'm trying to accomplish something similar but haven't found the right combination of hardware yet. My setup is:
Ultimate Apex stand with boom mic attachment. Single Kronos X88. I'm wanting to add an extension mount for my iPhone or iPad along with Nano Pad that floats above my Kronos. I've thought about using the upper keyboard tier arms and placing a flat plate on it, but haven't seen anything like that available from Ultimate. I use the iPhone to control my IEM mix. _________________ Voyager, A Tribute to the Music of Journey https://www.voyageraz.com

I have my NanoPad attached with Velcro on the left side above the control surface so it is solid and accessible enough to play, but can be removed when necessary.
For my second Kronos (used for rehearsals and gigs) I have an iPad holder attached to the main boom mic arm, closest to the top of the Apex, as I have a Mackie DL32S mixer to control audio and the monitor mixes. I’ll try to get a couple of shots later.
For the K2 in my home office/studio, I rigged a mount for an Alexis IO Dock in the same manner. |

I tried this config over the weekend. It seems to work for now. Keeping my Nanopad on the K just above the knobs on the left hand side. Put my phone on the stand so I can control my iem mix....plus the kicker...drink holder.

I have used all manner of different stands in my day. Right now, I have the Apex style stands and they seem to work well.
One stand in particular that I use, that I enjoy, is from a company called 'Stay'. They are aluminum, sturdy, and very lightweight.

I have one of these and two other Apex-style stands from a knock-off company I bought off eBay (they were $100 each).
I have 6 boards in my live setup.

Since 2002 all of JR keyboard stands are custom made rotating keyboard stands, built by Patrick Slaats from Holland. In 2011 he changed builder, a guy from USA named Rick Nelson and since then to this date he uses an even more advanced model that does rotation and tilting (hydraulics). I would recommend the Stay keyboard stands, they are awesome looking stands and get the job done. |

I have a QUIKLOK Z726 holding my Kronos 61-key, and love it. No more X-stands for me! This stand is very sturdy, and easy to slide around. The second tier is holding my Line 6 Helix and M-Audio trigger pad (I had to buy a second set of arms to split up the tier like that). It's $138 on Amazon, and well worth it, in my opinion.
