This one should be fun. I was asked by a friend to track the synth guitar parts for Turbo Lover by Judas Priest for them to use in their band. Has anyone tried to recreate the intro and choppy synth guitar parts for this song on the Kronos? I believe it was originally done on a Roland GR-700. Of course I first suggested they just buy the GR-700 but they are a bit pricey.

Here's a video of the GR-700

thats a tough one, for sure, trying to make a Kronos sound like a Roland guitar synth.

I saw a live version of the tune on YT. I recall they had the intro but the ''pulsating synth " part is not there, in the verse, according to my ears.

I went thru my FA and heard a few 'pulsating ' patches, but they were not immediately in the ball park.

Seems like a workaround is in order, if there isn't a clever way to nail the part on a Kronos.

It sounds like they have a pretty intense Phaser/Flanger type effect running too. You could probably recreate that Phaser type sound and clock the phasing to a tempo when you are playing it.

For the power chords and stuff, you may be able to simply create a distorted guitar sound, play the power chords, and use all of the EFX that you can to make it sound processed like that. I would probably add lots of chorus too.

I am assuming that there is a Power Chord sound in the guitar section (I have Kross and M50 synths in my studio but not Kronos), and maybe that one would work with a Hexa Chorus or thick chorus and a phaser/flanger type sound.

Grace,
Harry

It sounds like a flanger effect to me.

I get them mixed up sometimes Smile They kind of sound the same to me. I remember, back in recording school, missing a question on my final exam regarding the Phaser/Flanger type effect Smile

I may have to resort to Omnisphere for this one. =)
