Hello, all new member and new Krome owner. I have a Kilpatrick Audio Carbon Sequencer and I want to use the sounds of the Krome to record on the Carbon's six tracks. I can't figure out how to use different sounds for each track of the Carbon if I change the sound for track 2 then it also changes the sound for track 1? I'm new to midi and I'm older so I'm swimming in the deep end. if anyone could point me in the right direction I would be very appreciative.

Mike

Sure.

I think that I understand the situation.

I have a Krome, and I have a different performance sequencer (Social Entropy Engine) which I've used to drive the Krome at gigs. So if your problem is Carbon-specific, this may not be helpful.

Engine first:

Make sure that each track is set to a different MIDI channel. (I usually use 1 through 8 because the Engine has eight tracks.)

Krome:

I use sequencer mode on the Krome, and then check that the first eight tracks are (as they are by default) set to MIDI channels 1 through 8, and that they are set to respond to external MIDI, by setting EXT (I don't use EXT2, and INT or OFF would obviously miss the point).

Then, on the Krome, I set those tracks to each sound that I want them to have and ... I jam.

Hope this helps you.

Is the EXT setting the MIDI Clock?

The EXT setting is the per-channel setting on where that channel gets its signals.

You can find the details on this in KORG's Parameter Guide, but basically EXT means that that channel will listen to incoming MIDI for which notes to play.
