Hello,

I have a Kronos LS since 6 months. I use a X-shaped stand beneath the LS.

Some of my keys below the "TouchView" label on the Kronos have began to make a typewriter noise when I release them.

I tried to gently push against the rubber support at the center beneath the Kronos and press those keys at the same time. When I do that, the noise disappears. In fact, when I rest the Kronos on a table top using its five rubber supports, the noise disappears entirely.

Is this a hardware issue or poor quality stand due to uneven weight distribution? I am switching to a flat table stand soon.

Here is the video of the noisy key --

Looking forward to your suggestions. Thank you.

your video is not working. Could be a YouTube ' country ' thing

Anyway, there have been several posts about deficiency in the LS key bed.

If it was me and if its possible, you might have a warranty issue.

6 months old is very close to new.

your explanation suggests that the chassis and support for the 88 key bed is insufficient.

A Key bed should behave perfectly for many years.

Hi there,

From your video, it looks indeed like could just be because your Kronos is a bit too much at angle because of your stand. I would not worry about it much since you mention the noise disappears when the unit is flat on its rubber feet. Make sure all screws under your Kronos are well tightened.

@GregC,

You might check this new link, which is not country specific -

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1fe4__Ilb2OCZ1h0qGHCcxJCA984CyxvX/view?usp=drivesdk

An important point to note is that the keys do not make the noise when you touch them randomly during the day. The noise pops up 30-60 minutes after playing.

Anyways, I am purchasing a flat table to keep the Kronos LS. I think that an unequal weight distribution at the center might be causing the black keys to become noisy beneath the display.

Do you feel that this might be the reason why some LS’ develop sinking keys in the future (i.e. weight distribution matters)?

no luck with the iMovie, sorry.

" I think that an unequal weight distribution at the center might be causing the black keys to become noisy beneath the display. "

which is my Internet assessment. The chassis and/or key bed should have -0- flex.

Every 88 keyboard I have owned has adequate support. For me , thats the standard.

And if it is 'flex ' its not going to fix itself. It will continue flexing. I am not as forgiving, esp since this is a $3000 key board.

@GregC,

I agree that one should not be forgiving for such an expensive keyboard. I will play the keyboard on a table top for a few weeks and get back with my analysis.

Nonetheless, this is something for the mechanical design team at Korg to note.

It seems that the keyboard might have developed some flex at the center.

I will keep both of you updated in a few weeks. Thank you.

This turned out to be an issue with the stand that got bent probably during transportation. The keybed did not make any strange sounds in the last couple of weeks on a table top. Thank you for your help!
