I'm trying to decide on an arranger for gigging and one of the big differentiators is the number of keys.
Apart from the obvious reason that 76 keys provide a larger range but having watched the concert by Pete Shaw I can now see that one of the biggest advantages is when it comes to splitting the keyboard. The 76 keys allows much more two hand playing on the right hand, whilst still leaving a wide range on the left hand.
Is that how it works in practice when gigging? I am worried about the weight and size but if there is a clear practical advantage then I would go for 76 keys?
Any comments from gigging musicians would be much appreciated as I have no experience of 76 key keyboards, nor gigging. |
