Hi,
I am sure many of you had the white rubber pads on your M3 (x8 under the screen) turn yellow.
Since it's almost impossible to find the replacement parts, I was wondering if anybody tried to clean the pads and was successful?
Is there a particular product that can be used to bring the white back without damaging the surface of the rubber/plastic.
Thank you,
D. |

I wouldn't use any harsh chemicals or bleach to clean them, certainly nothing off-the-shelf kind of product, because I think they would likely dry out the rubber pads and make them non-functional. If I were to try anything (and I am not recommending this, since I don't know what the pads are made from) it would be to soak the pads in a vinegar and baking soda solution and a very gentle scrub, since vinegar doesn't dry out rubber. I use vinegar to clean the rubber seals on my fridge and on my windshield wipers. Maybe if I had a spare set of yellowing pads, I could try it out...
Unfortunately, the yellowing is normal for any white/translucent rubber. Just like white soles on shoes turn yellow over time. It is ugly though, and I do wish Korg had used black pads instead of white ones. Maybe it would be worth searching for white soles cleaning techniques?
If you do find something workable, let us know please. I dislike my yellow pads too. |

Thanks HardSync,
I'll definitely try and report back if successful.
Cheers,

m3m parts ideas
try these guys
https://syntaur.com/korg_m.html
one idea I had is they make silicone mold kits these days..
it would be easy to get an impression for your old button and make ones from scratch!!
I am surprised korg does not make new ones now..
they have touch pads on other new gear...
how hard would it be to setup production for a few thousand??
at 50 bucks retail per set..
I would buy a set!! _________________ my site klimaco.net
