I am in the market for a synth/workstation and many people recommended many different brands and models. During my research of all those I came across too many used Krome models 6 or 8...

I hardly came across used Kronos, Fantom, Motif etc.
Is it because too many out there or is it because in the long run people find the performance of Krome not up to the par with other models?

I watched many demo videos and it looks and sounds ok to me.
Any ideas why too many of Krome on the second hand market?

There aren't that many listings for Korg Krome on ebay at the moment, nor Korg Kronos. The numbers of Yamaha Montage seem at least comparable, if not greater, and the numbers of MODX for sale seems far greater than the Krome, togetether with huge numers of Motifs, and rather fewer Roland Fantoms.

I didn't mean eBay or Craigslist but even in Guitar Center stores and nationwide used equipment list have many Krome listings. Not Kronos, not Kross but Krome...

For a while I was looking for Kronos 73 key model and everywhere I looked or called was coming back as " hey we don't have Kronos but how do you feel about Krome, we have 2" kind of answers which got my attention. That's why I was asking.
Probably people want to sell their old ones to update to Krome 2 or Kronos? Who knows?
I was just wondering.

I don't know for sure, but here's my speculation:

Some people buy a Krome, then realise that they want audio tracks and so on, so the logical upgrade is a Kronos. They sell the Krome to help pay for the Kronos.

The Krome has been out for a good few years, so people who bought it when it was new and shiny are now spending on whatever's new and shiny today, and selling the Krome to get the new shiny.

The Krome itself is a very capable board, both internally and as a studio master using MIDI. In fact, right now mine is hooked up because I'm using it for a film scoring session. Is it the ultimate in sonic delight? No, but it will get you decent sounds in an interface that will also easily let you drive a whole studio full of gear, including MIDI CCs. Especially if you have an external recorder for the mixing and mastering details, the Krome can be a really great element of a studio, and I think that KORG should produce a Krome II with a larger screen, more knobularity, and maybe a couple more connections.

It would be awesome.
