Hey everybody,

I have absolutely no idea how to solve my problem.

I want my korg electribe emx to be the slave and reaper the master.

The goal is to record Midi channel, make an arragement, and send the data back to the electribe with reaper as clock.

But I always get a feedback. input monitoring sound and the box itself.
Video: https://streamable.com/kf00z

The Electribe is set to EXT. (Midi Settings X0X0)
I set up to send midi clock in the settings.
Recording Midi works.

I hit record, the Midi start playing, the Start button on my electribe lights up. But after i hit the play button off, its seems to work. But because of the monitoring input tall channels are played, but i only want the one i recorded.

Sry for my complicated explanation..

Any Ideas, i'm so frustrated
Thank you!

If I've understood you correctly, you want the EMX parts to be played by the MIDI data recorded on the Reaper tracks.

To prevent the EMX starting it's internal sequencer when you hit play in Reaper, you could try the 'No SPP/Continue' option in Reaper's MIDI settings:

Options > Preferences > MIDI Devices > Right click MIDI output for EMX > Check 'Do not send SPP to output'

Alternatively, you could set the EMX clock to Internal.

You may need to switch these options back when recording MIDI from the EMX. I found it easier to use the EMX as master and Reaper as slave.

I think you also want to record the parts from the EMX individually. Solo the track you want, either in Reaper or on the EMX. You may want to set up a separate track to get the audio from the EMX.

Hey russellclarke,

thanks for your respond.

yipp you understand it correctly.
The goal is to programm a pattern. Record the midi files. Arrange them. Play them back and record the Audio.

While I'm using the Internal EMX clock its working fine, but i definitly want to try out the internal clock becouse the emx clock isnt tight enough.

I try out your suggestion and checked bit ti sebd spp output.
But still no luck. After Hit Play all Channels are triggered again and I hear the EMX and additionally the recorded MIDI notes. And they doubled..

If i Hit the STOP button on the EMX it works fine! i ask myself, if theres a possibilty to filter out the commands to Start and Stop the EMX. Maybe this could solve my problem..

I thought that was what 'No SPP/Continue' did. I was wrong, sorry.

What if you set EMX clock to Internal only when you are recording the audio back into Reaper? This is essentially turning off the clock input.

This way the EMX should act as a sound module. The MIDI notes will be clocked by Reaper and the EMX should not start its sequencer.

But thats the Point. How can i use to different clocks to get things in time. If i use the internal emx clocks, the sounds are not tight enough. Thats why i was hoping to use reapers internal clock only.

But it seems the SPP option changed something. after i hit the Stop button it stay off! Before it start over and over again.

I think thats better than nothing!

You could copy the pattern on the EMX and clear the note data from the parts. This way you should still get the motion sequences.

You could create a custom MIDI filter to block the transport control messages and put it between Reaper and the EMX. Transport Start is a System Real-Time message, number 250.
