I've no idea if KORG made any changes to the choice of fan used, but in my opinion it's not an issue either way any more since KORG released a firmware long ago that allows you to set the speed. You can safely set the fan to a quite mode in GLOBAL Mode. If the temperature rises too much, the KRONOS will switch it onto full speed regardless to cool itself down.
