Hi all,
Newly registered here and sorry to come flying in with a biggie, but ...
Have recently sort of, kind of "inherited" an Oasys (it's complicated!). It had been working well over the past couple of years (I know because I was the one using it) but has been unused for about the past 11 - 12 months and kept in dust-free storage.
I brought it home yesterday and in a boringly typical fashion, no sooner had I powered it up, the touch screen is unresponsive. There had only been mild problems in the past years with one of the axes being out of alignment and this had been fixed with a recalibration.
But now, it appears completely unfixable. I have run the Enter, Exit, 2, Function diagnostics and cannot get past the screen calibration as it fails.
LCD itself is fine and I have browsed all of the threads here about this issue, so I gather that the problem is with the digitiser element.
So, I saw this link in another thread
http://au.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Fujitsu/N010-0554-T347/?qs=%2fha2pyFaduhuR5mb2ho02SePoCioadmsxkop9OcpROtQUSVFgplWIQ==
and see that they're still available.
What I'd really like to know is how hard it is to replace only the touchscreen element and whether anyone is prepared to talk me through it.
Any help would be appreciated. I am so fond of this keyboard, it is the closest I've had to "one synth does all" and I have enjoyed programming and playing it in the past. Now that it's more-or-less mine, I dread the thought of having it slip through my fingers because of such an infuriating issue.
Thanks everyone,
Cheers,
Matt |

Sorry to hear about your issue. I haven't had to replace an OASYS screen, yet. Am curious to know how that part works for you. |

From my own experience:
So you even cannot calibrate the display with [Enter] + [3] (in GLOBAL mode), but it is still working, but just doesn't respond if you touch it:
If your OASYS was stored in a humid climate with more than 80% humidity (for example in a basement) for several weeks, this could be the very likely reason for the nonresponsive but otherwise still working touch display.
The OASYS touch display doesn't like lasting humid environments.
Keep the OASYS in a dry climate with a humidity between 50 - 60% for 1 - 2 weeks and the display will recover and respond again if you touch it.
Use a dehumidifier if you are living in a humid climate:

Good luck! |

Thanks for that. It was in a corner of a studio control room for nigh on a year. It's always felt stuffy when I've gone in there, but not what I'd call humid. However, the other teacher who uses the studio more than me, will put the heater on if he's too cold. So maybe that has been taking its toll?
I've heard some people talking about aiming a hairdryer at the screen and giving it a blast which to me sounds like a terrible thing to do, but then I know bugger all about electronics.
The Oasys has been in my (chilly) music room for a couple of weeks now (we're just coming out of winter). I too hate humidity or any temperature above 21 C . I'll try firing it up later and see what happens.
Is there another touch screen that's compatible with the Fujitsu, or is that it? I've tried ordering one from Mouser and Elecok, but they're out of stock and neither can tell me for sure when they're likely to have more. |

Buy a hygrometer to measure the relative air humidity. If it's much more than 60% (like 70 to 90%) you should buy a dehumidifier https://www.walmart.com/c/kp/basement-dehumidifiers - which are cheap - in order to keep the relative air humidity of your studio ideal, which is 50-60%. This is generally recommended concerning the "health" of all electronic equipment in a studio. |

It doesn't sound too difficult to replace the touch screen. I have read in another thread the method - I am sure if you do a search you will come across the right thread. it's almost a good idea to just buy a new Fujitsu 0554-T347 touch-screen to have as a spare in case of a problem.
There is a place here that appears to have them in stock

My fellow Korgians,
I'm as pleased as I am relieved to announce that:
THE BEAST HAS AWOKEN!
I've been trying to post photos in this message but no luck - I don't think the [img] tags like my Google photos page.
Anyway, found a touchscreen on ebay from seller "googoodsecho" and it was listed under "GPS Accessories and Tracking" but was being listed as a 4-wire touch screen element for Korg Oasys 76 88.
Shipping was from Hong Kong. It arrived (eventually) in a well sealed box and a lot of bubble wrap.
Then went through the nerve-wracking process of removing the screen, removing the glass, putting the new one on, replacing screen, and holding breath while powering up.
To my sheer relief and delight, everything I touched worked as it should. I can program again!
I did take some video of the process (took me three days in between work), so if I ever manage to piece the footage together, I'll post a link.
