Sharp you don't think this new Roli has any uses?

The device itself has, somewhat, if you go out of your way to try interface it into real instruments. Which is by no means straight forward compared to just connecting up to a proper midi controller.

Going by the video, that's not their intended market. It's all geared towards jolly Facebook fantasy land nonsense to me. Your next hit, all created with a single finger while driving around town in the car and jamming with the person in the back seat. No knowledge of music required.

Zero effort.

I'd rather throw the $200 on a Sample Library I can write real music with.

Regards
Sharp.

I kind of get the impression everything after the noise integration with mobile devices was an after thought. I do think it was targeted to the mobile device crowd who want to play around. Like I said somewhere before if it gets a proper dashboard and the ability to assign your own midi cc to each of the dimensions I would be able to find a use for it. I however am not a gigging proper musician. Bedroom hack is a more correct term, with that a completely different set of needs and wants from you all who know what your doing and make a living from it.

Zero effort required, instant gratification.

Does it have a Selfie mode?

Roll Block is not an instant gratification. I’ve been using it for week+ and slowly getting to like it a lot.
Despite the fact that the noise app is a resource hog and buggy I do enjoy the expression I can achieve with the combo. I just explained to somebody about this product, comparing it with your first guitar/violin (cannot use piano as an example b/c that is NOT even 3d) I too had blisters on my fingers when I did my first, second guitar. And yes you need to understand the instruments. That is what you get with the 5D expression a giant learning curve for your fingers positioning etc.

As I’m getting more accustomed with ROLI blocks (purchased both control blocks might go for another blocks if they start to fix issues) I definitely see the light at the end of the tunnel.

The results are very musical and the workflow is really something that I have not seen before. I do have a lot of apps and gear.. Going back even to aftertouch capable arturia key step or other apps/gear I cannot get the connection (satisfaction in expression) that I get with blocks.

I have a few videos with Blocks on my channel if you interested..
