Over the weekend I was playing around with audio automation in the sequencer, but was a bit confused as to which track such automation events are recorded to.
As I understand, audio tracks can have audio automation written to them via the control surface for certain events (Pan, Volume, EQ). These can then be edited by selecting the appropriate audio track in Track Edit and using the "Audio Event Edit" option.
However what I found in practice is that in some cases, particularly when using "Multi Rec", audio automation would be written to a MIDI track as Sysex events. This meant that even if I cleared the audio tracks completely, audio automation would still occur on playback and record, which is less than ideal. It also means going through each MIDI track and clearing Sysex data, which has the potential to clear data related to the MIDI track that should be retained.
So I'm wondering if someone could kindly provide an overview of which track audio automation will be recorded to depending on whether Multi Record is enabled, and which tracks are armed for recording - that would be very much appreciated!
