Dearly beloved
We are gathered here today
To get through this thing called life

Electric word life
It means forever and that's a mighty long time
But I'm here to tell you
There's something else
The after world

A world of never ending happiness
You can always see the sun, day or night

So when you call up that shrink in Beverly Hills
You know the one, Dr. Everything'll Be Alright
Instead of asking him how much of your time is left
Ask him how much of your mind, baby

'Cause in this life
Things are much harder than in the after world
In this life
You're on your own .......

[tinfoil hat on]

His death is likely to be an illuminati beltane ritual sacrifice.

He recorded 39 studio albums altogether over a 37 years period. Between live shows and court fights and .............. that's a massive output. RIP

The sad thing is that many of these highly gifted people, leaving iconic impressions on us, lead a very loneley life, missing a basic structure of strong, warm relations and being driven by their inner demons and the constant pressure to prove something to others and themselves.

May God give him the peace he has been missing.

incredibly sad that Prince has passed away. I was never a big fan (though hugely admired and liked his music), but it really has hit me, as it has with so many others. The loss of so many wonderful artists is poignant reminder of how many people we actually admire and look up to. As you get a bit older you tend not to look to heroes so much - but of late I'm realising just how many heroes I have!

On an equally sober note, this article on the BBC web site suggests the large number of famous people passing away is not a glitch, and that we had better get used to this for some time to come (post war famous baby boomers now ageing and passing away):

On a lighter note, I follow Peter Gabriel on Facebook and he posted a lovely piece on Prince. But the comments were laiden with people saying to him - "Peter - look after yourself, we don't want to loose you too". I'm sure Peter Gabriel is 'happy' about that Shocked

I didn't exactly play his records all the time but he has done so much for pop music that I love. As a musician he really is a style by himself. You can play a synth part and someone will comment "oh cool Prince sound!".
In addition he was so incredibly iconic, larger than life, both a genius and (more than?) a bit crazy. A few years ago he was playing the Ziggo Dome here in Amsterdam, one of our biggest concert venues. Thousands of people stood in line, all dressed in purple as per the living legend's request. And he showed up to the gig on his bike.
There's an air of intangible uniqueness about him, which he carefully cultivated.

I don't think we'll see another like him in my lifetime.
