More copying from Korg!!!

They even put SW switches next to joystick.

but the joystick stil is "3-way", not "4-way" like in KORG!

ok, i will stop joking, but only for a minute

likely the outputs were brushed out or maybe the placement of the outs is on a back panel that angles where we can't see it

Try to hang in there for 1 more day, actually 19 hours or so

I suspect its a major upgrade from the X

We will find out very soon

It usually takes something like NAMM to remind me of this place. Wink

I have a Fantom X7, and I'm actually a little disappointed in a Roland product for the first time. A little. Mostly because of the filters, which are a little wimpy. The skimpy effects I can live with, since I have rack stuff to beef that up with. The rom samples are actually superb, and when you do a mix on it, the sound is very nice for that gen of instrument. Soloing a synthesizer patch, half the time I can't quite get what I want out of it. The synth engine in the venerable 90's era JD-990 is much better, as are the effects. But, throw a slightly disappointing patch into a mix, and it sounds pretty nice.

If they can get a series of nice vintage filter models in the new G series, they'll sell, because Roland knows how to give an instrument great waves to work with. And a very good sign is a multi-effect with each channel, like 16 inserts. I do expect great things with these boards.

I keep vacillating. I go back and forth between wanting an M3/Motif XS combo, and an Oasys, which is of course every synthesist's dream playstation. Maybe... this year? It could happen. Wink

I hear you. I agree with that Roland instrument quality. I really like it and started with the Jv880.

As we know One w/s does not ' do it all'. I enjoy all 3 flavors ( Rd700sx, XS and M3-M)

I hope I am right about the 'G'

if you want really good roland filter, buy the v-synth gt...it has that amazing tb emulation filter. the pissweak filters on the fantom, affectionately known as TVFs, don't hold a candlelight to v-synth gt's.

roland as a brand continues its legacy only because of v-synth line, the workstation line is a laugh and a half...maybe you are right greggie boy, the fantom-g may SOUND significantly better than the x...it better be to stomp out the competition.

Definitely not a touch screen!

http://www.roland.com/products/en/Fantom-G6/

"large sized color LCD"

That ARX expression option sounds interesting tho

Yeah, but unfortunately we're still at 128 note polyphony, which must be shared with any audio tracks. And it looks like the 256 meg of wave ROM is the same soundset as the Fantom-X with some added SRX sounds. Nothing new.
