Any chance of an earlier release date.

Spiral.

I guess not.

You noticed...

Wink

I shaved it off before my Summer vacation so I could enjoy snorkeling without water pouring into my mask, thanks to the "fuzzy caterpillar" on my lip.

Some say it makes me look younger...

Sigh.

Commentary aside,

Does anyone here know the file size limitations that either the MR-1 or the MR-1000 will have. Eg. 2GB max file size or unlimited file size (recording time) within the size constraints of the HDD of course. For me this is important, since I would be using this device to record live performances.

There's an interesting answer here. The file size is not a major constraint on recording time. The maximum recording time per Song at any resolution is around 6 hours. More than enough!!

It is true that there is a file size limit, but the MR's get around that by automatically splitting the file as needed while recording without any perceptible delays or issues. The files can then be re-joined using the AudioGate software.

Jerry

I have been working with Korg on this new 1bit recorder that has been designed by Koji Oishi under the supervision of Dr. Yoshio Yamasaki at Waseda University in Japan.
Dr. Yoshio Yamasaki invented 1bit recording and licensed the technology to Sony (who does not give him credit for it). This new recorder will be a milestone for the recording studio, the MR-1000 will most likely retail for under $799.

Oops - Pete had the models wrong - the MR-1000 will be more than that, I would say it'll be more like $1,199 - $1,299. The MR-1 should be around $799. we don't have final piricng yet - it'll be announced at the NAMM Show, and the products will ship in March-April, 2007.

Jerry

Nice! I was wondering if the files could be rejoined using the AG software. Sounds like this is shaping up to be a winner, esp with a 40GB HDD instead of the wimpy 20GB version.

Are there any considerations of installing a CF card slot in these units? The size (memory) of these CF cards are continually increasing so I don't think that file size will be a limiting factor for this type of storage medium in the future.

Yes. To and from WAV and AIFF to all 1-bit formats.

Jerry,

Hi! I, as well as other, are anxiously awaiting the release of the MR's. Could you give us any more information as far as were to be looking for these when they do 'hit the streets'? Also, do you foresee any possible delays in the production/shipment of the MR line? Or, is the release date of March/April firm? I apologize ahead of time, it's hard to ask that question without sounding pushy. I just have some projects lined up in the spring with which I would love to put these recorders through their paces with. I greatly appreciate your time and responses that you offer here, you are truly an asset.

JC

Hi JC:

Production has started and things seem to be going fine.

Stock will arrive in the US to be on time for March in store, for sure.

regards,

Jerry

Jerry,

How long do the batteries last on each the MR-1 and MR-1000? Is there a low battery warning? Thanks.

Looks like the MR-1 is on the shelf in Japan and the MR-1000 is due for Jan 27th debut there as well. Anyone know how long untill these are due for export to the US or UK? This seems ahead of schedule and is great news.
